There's no way this guy was one of our top targets. Hope he hits the ground running and links up well with Long. Welcome Boris.

Without seeing Jimmy’s list of targets we don’t know that for sure. Perhaps (hopefully) the remainder of the budget is going to go on a permanent striker with a bit of experience.

If he was one of the top targets then why not sign his at the start of the window? I doubt Everton have any incentive to hold off until the very end of the window.

Mr. Slowe, why not sign him 3-4 weeks ago then and have him on the benhch rather than Revell?

Wasn't top of our targets?

He's only been training with the club for the last 3 or 4 weeks!

Well, 3 to 4 weeks read 3 to 4 days. According to Jimmy.

Just because we havent heard of him, doesnt make him useless.
He could be better than Long.

Jimmy is lying on this one.

Perhaps they wanted to have a proper look at him and now they're confident he will add something?

Signed on a 2-year deal by Ronald Koeman last summer to play for Everton U23 squad, but has yet to make an appearance for them.

If he's been training with us for a few weeks, I trust Jimmy & the team enough having had a good look at him in training, that he will be a beneficial addition to the squad...welcome fella!

Still more to come in/go out judging by Jimmy's positive comments...

“We think we have had a very positive transfer window so far and January’s results have been very encouraging. We continue to talk to some targets to improve the squad further which we hope to get over the line before the deadline, so everyone is continuing to work hard.”

How do you know he is struggling to get commitment?

For all we know the deal(s) maybe done, maybe we are waitying on other factors like the club the player(s) are coming from sorting a replacement?

As people of already said for strikers especially these deals often take longer because demand is higher, in fact i wouldn't be siprised if the signings didn't happen until Wednesday.

I would be extremly shocked if we didn't have two new strikers through the door come midnight on Wednesday, no idea who or when, but I'm certain we will.
As I said , JFH is struggling to get the players he wants .
I would suggest the new signing illustrates this .

Well he was at Lyon's academy for a few years and Everton have produced a real good crop recently, Davies, Kenny etc. If he has trained with the first team for periods as well hopefully this will reflect in his ability ALA Shay Facey.

Someone said looks like Mahrez younger brother which is a great shout. At least we have options now! Welcome Boris!

Will he replace any of Long, Hildeberto, Ariyibi, Poole or Grimes in the match day squad?

Or is he here just as a back up in case Long gets injured?

Given that we have spent some money this window, do you think Mathis, somebody with no experience we have been training for 3-4 weeks without JFH signing him, was a top target? I just can't believe that's true. Unless there's a much better player ready to sign in the next 48hrs then, in my opinion, he's missed out on top targets and this guy was a backup signing.

Boris Mathis from Everton

A ray of hope flickers in the sky
A tiny star lights up way up high
All across the land, dawns a brand new morn
This comes to pass when a cobbler's born.

I personally think he was a target, as our back up option should someone get injured.

Important to remember not all targets are automatic first choices, look at Jack Bridge....signed for the future. This Boris fella, signed on loan as cover in case someone gets injured.

Get the permanent signing over the line and all will be clear I guess.

Edit : Read your post properly.....Let's see what happens in the next 48 hours.

This makes sense, he probably won't make the squad unless and loanee (Long) get's injured or suspended. Hopefully the "big one" is still to come, and no that is not any sort of allusion towards Bayo.

Exactly this. We all know how highly Long is rated. This seems a 'like for like' backup should disaster strike.
