So because he has very little first team experience he doesn't count? Why would Jimmy sign him then?
Because JFH plays safe and will not risk a player with no first team experience in men’s football in the line up unless we are injury ravaged or 6.0 up at home . He might have an eye on next season though |

EXCEPT we do need to replace the loan players. Or try and get them permanently. Long and Grimes, 2 wingers. That's already 4 changes and more to ship out. So no, it'll be nice if we do those things, but I agree it'd be nice not to break up what we've just got together.
Yes I think you are correct generally, but I expect Long may well be on his way back to that mid/west/east Lancashire dumping ground at the season's end. |

I wonder whether the 4th striker will be a free transfer purely as a backup, or whether we'll go big again and have three quality strikers on the books. Can't see it being another loan.

Can’t you change numbers halfway through a season at the same club ? If so , Long deserves the 9 or 10 . |

I'm sure someone posted on the squad numbers thread yesterday that Mathis has been given 9 and Van Veen 10, don't know if that was a guess or confirmed though. |

Have you not heard, Howson pulled out of the deal as he knows he'll never get in ahead of JJOT. Buchs also turned down Sheffield United, doesn't rate their manager |

Don't see how we can fit a 4th Striker in unless we completely change how we play (on the form we're in, we shouldn't be, O'Toole has found a very effective place to play just behind one up front and it'd be a shame to lose that). Good to have options, but surely 3 is enough? Are we still looking at that ex-Sheffield Utd centre-back as well?

I think we have the 4 strikers - Long, KVV, Mathis and JJOT. I know JJOT is not a recognised striker, but he is filling that role well.
I would not be surprised to see another defender come in or Long become permanent.
