Some rumours that a few League 1 clubs are sniffing around Rod McDonald. I presume we have a sell out clause.

Moult is untested and McKay is a failure at our level.

Billy Bodin, however....

What manager released him and didn't play Calvert-Lewin so we could fit an ageing Rico in the team?!  Evil

Did anyone moan when we released Moult? No. That because he wasn't very good.

Two things amaze me - that PNE paid reported £500k for his services. Secondly he had his chances here and didn’t impress. So he was released as was Morrison; what do you expect the club to do - hang onto them for ever ....JIC!

I'd wager Wrexham are better than us (at the moment, but then so probably are Chesham Utd  Shocked). Motherwell...SPL!!!

SPL is a mixed bag. McKay bagged goals, couldn't cut it in league two with Oldham, let alone League One with Wigan. On the other hand, you have gems like Diamond and Taylor coming this way.

And Wrexham probably are better than us  Grin but a slap in the face is better than a kick in the balls. Doesn't mean I particularly want to be slapped.

No doubt we will be having this very conversation about young joe in a few years time.

You can add toney to that list of people who left us for peanuts,  but have sell on value.

Fair play to Louis, he was very, very raw here and didn't look up to much to be fair.

He worked hard at his game for Nuneaton and Wrexham, and has done really well in Scotland.

I hope he continues it at Preston.

Correct. One mans trash is another mans treasure.

O'Toole and Holmes both came here on free transfers... it happens to every club.

It's just another stick to beat the club with....and who doesn't love that!

I'd wager that Moult will be heading back to the SPL with his tail between his legs in 18 months time. Scoring goals for the lesser lights in that league means very little in the context of the English leagues.

There were plenty on hear bemoaning the fact that Oldham signed McKay last season and we didn't get him, he was an abject failure for them in League One, he simply isn't good enough for this level. Moult is probably a good Conference striker, he might do ok in League 2. The point is neither of these players would have had any resale value for us because they wouldn't have been good enough for the level we were at so wouldn't have built up any value (just like when they were actually with us)

And players exercise choices over their careers as much as clubs do. In the case of Steve Howard his contract had 6 months left. Luton were offering him much higher wages and a longer contract so what do you do? As a player you'd take the higher wages and maintain some security. As a club for every week of the remaining contract he's worth less so take what you can.

Also if a player struggles with form or injuries they get released. If they turn it round later on and do well then good for them. It's a short career.

Same with the youngsters we've sold before getting near the first team. It'd be nice if they became stars with us but a guaranteed return for the club when most kids drop out is a safe return. Couldn't keep them if we tried either. High level coaching, first class facilities, chunks of cash in case you make it, private schooling for the younger ones.
Even with these ones most rarely make their mark. In recent years we've sold/received some compo for Mark Randall to Arsenal, Michael Gyasi to Chelsea, Glenn Middleton to Norwich, Anton Blackwood to Arsenal, Ivan Toney to Newcastle. Some do ok and some do when dropping to their natural level. Others don't. Players are a complete lottery of ability, injury, application and luck.

Rambling now so I'll shut up.

I think someone should just take this city of Peterborough and just... just flush it down the f***in' toilet

Lewis Moult did OK for us until he got himself sent off for something stupid, I think it was at York, and AB never picked him again.

Just checked the LM statistics and can only assume that some on here have selective memory syndrome as a glance LM's record at NTFC justifies his free transfer to Nuneaton 2013.
