I know hindsight is always 20:20 but personally I always rated Moult in the sparse time he had on the pitch and always felt he never got a fair opportunity to prove himself. Never looked out of his depth, and more robust than Billy who too often got physically edged out by defenders.
That said, I've probably felt the same about number of other young players that never amounted to anything, and fair play to him for working himself back up from non-league.

Players develop and improve at different rates, you can't hold on to a player for 5 years in the 'hope' he will continually improve.
I didn't think Moult was anything special, I thought Archer was dreadful. that was based on their time with us so much influences a player's quality, it's quite likely that our coaching was nothing special so moving elsewhere with a better coaching set up could be one of many reasons these players (and many others) have improved since they left us.

And it is easier to be better with better players around you...

"Better coaching set up" He moved to Nuneaton didn't he? His first Nuneaton loan was hardly inspiring...but yes valid point.

"Better coaching set up" He moved to Nuneaton didn't he? Haha ok good point, but, you never know how good a club's coaching set up is. First team standing in the pyramid is not necessarily an accurate indicator of coaching ability.

James Collins has got 10 in about 15 games, and he did show promise when here.
