Cobbler 78, as you clearly like the stats, here are some more. Rob Page was sacked on the back of a 5-0 defeat, his nineth defeat in 11 matches and after having claimed that the match had been "men against girls", a comment he later rightly apologised for. This was certainly not the comment of a manager who feels backed to the hilt by his team or even in full control of his own emotions. He started on a high, which many have said (and I agree) was largely due to the confidence and momentum carried over from our promotion season. His overall record with us was poor and the fact that his successors' records have unfortunately been even poorer (only so far in JFH's case), does not justify keeping on a manager who was on a clear and pronounced downward spiral. So quoting Page's overall record as the only reason we should have kept him on is simplistic in the extreme.
Generally speaking I agree with you that records, statistics and facts are important, but not taken in complete isolation and that seems to be what you do.
