So because Coventry got relegated that makes him a bad player does it???
If we go down does that make the likes of JJOT a bad player
You miss the point . Coventry sent him out on loan . Surely that means they didn’t want him having been relegated ? Don’t get me wrong , I’m open minded but it doesn’t read well .

We released Rod, that didn’t make him a bad player just not what our manager at the time wanted. Maybe it’s as simple as the fact their current manager didn’t sign him and prefers his own signings. Maybe they decided they wanted rid at the end of last season due to his wages?
I’d be wary of reviews from Cov fans, he played for them during what was the low point in most of their fans life time, I doubt they have much good to say about most of their side last year. As has been said he was Swindon’s player of the year in league one so there must be something there.
As ever with any signing you will find good and bad reviews, why a number of people seem so desperate to write off every player, even before we’ve signed them is beyond me.
Yes, yes...but we didn't release Rod, having been relegated, was the salient point I was responding to!

No argument from me there but he’s not forcing these signings onto our managers
I would argue that he's just a very visual target - we certainly bought a lot of crap pre-Melville as well.

Yep I get that just pointing out that players get released all the time and Rod hardly got released on he back of us having a successful season. O’Toole left Brizzle after relegation from League 2, it doesn’t mean he’s not good enough for that league, although admittedly I think they tried to keep him. I think someone posted that leaving Cov post relegation was very much Turnbull’s choice.

You may have got it wrong too! At the end of season Turnbull opted on a get out clause on his contract. However he had no takers so ended up with PT. Incidentally they are very sad to see him go A few Cov fans think he might be ok in L1. Based on recent signings so far I prefer to believe he isn't a dud!

Very poor reviews of the lad of the coventry fans site, I will wait to see him before making judgement, but it's not encouraging
I've only just got around to reading the Coventry reviews. I've read far worse reviews of our recent signings! I read one person say he's already had a better career than Rod Mcdonald will ever have. Seems to have more pace than Rod and can also cover at left back. Definitely has good pedigree, and would expect him to be starting until Pierre returns.

We all know that Melville doesn’t sign players don’t we? He’s basically a chief scout, the manager has full say on signings. Jimmy might ask him to identify a new striker for example and Melville will provide a list of targets and reports and the manager will possibly go after one, even under this scenario I’d imagine the manager would still take a look himself.
You're half correct, well done.

Welcome and good luck. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such bad reviews from a signings previous club (Cov) before!

True. That said, they were in a bad way last season, a mess off the pitch, protests etc etc. Not sure it is a true reflection, considering the Partick fans really rate him, the Swindon fans really rate him and there is the odd Coventry fan that says don't listen to the rest he is decent.

Having encountered a fair few Coventry fans in my time (quite a lot of them growing up in Daventry and during my studies at university there), they generally are not the sharpest or most intelligent bunch so I wouldn't take their comments too seriously.

Wow, were the Cov reviews that bad? We routinely sign players that get panned by their former clubs fans. Some maybe justified, others not so much. It is why I've stopped bothering to read them.

1. You know nothing of a 'get out clause' other than reading a previous post on here. 2. You've been trawling through the Coventry City forum.

Coventry fans I know don’t rate him . He was sub against us and they were awful . Scottish football counts for nothing . No one wanted to sign him pre season Other than that I’m sure he’s fine
