I had Brian Glover/Kes (the football match) come in to my slightly over active mind during the game yesterday.

Exactly. Kes is the best football film ever made even though the match only lasted around 8 minutes.

Very happy with the win on saturday and the side looks much improved thanks to the new boys. Agree that Facey is a hell of a find and a signing just looks calm and collected.

In regards to Hoskins...I thought he played well in the first half however Jimmy said something to him that he didn't like and from my view from then on he looked a bit disinterested especially in defending. When he did get taken off he didn't like it had a bit of a sulk on the bench and then kicked over some things that were rested against the wall just outside the tunnel, so was obviously not happy. From what I saw I think Jimmy and Hoskins don't get on too well and my opinion is that Sam won't be in the team much longer but time will tell.

I also think that the two new wingers will replace both Hoskins and Foley when they are fit.

Won't be the first time a manager has had a tiff with a player, nor will it be the last.

What a difference a few weeks makes.

We are actually beginning to look like a team with a plan, yes there were spells against Franchise where they seemed to be on top but apart from the last 10 minutes I felt like we were in pretty decent control of the game. The save at the end  Cheesy, amazing stuff.

Always nice to send the plastics back with their tail between their legs, what a pathetic bunch of supporters they are. I believe that is now one Sixfields sell out for them in 6 visits. 20 miles down the road and that's it  Grin

Had a bit of a browse on their forum after the match, it's funny as hell, they are the thickest bunch of 'fans' I think I've ever seen / read. I think they are close to rivaling Oxford, but still a way to go to take that crown.
Now just got to keep my fingers crossed until May that they can't get back out of the bottom 4, yes local games are good but MK can disappear into oblivion for all I care.

Amazing to read on their forum that a number of their fans hung about outside the ground waiting for the manager, players & chairman to leave so they could hurl abuse at them...  Huh?

I sincerely hope we have an option to extent Faceys contract, the lad has all the qualities needed to play at least championship football for a long time. I have commented a lot about our full backs ability to retain the ball previously, or lack of it. Facey is happy to take a touch and pass inside or whip the ball into feet. Moloney and particular Buchanan more often than not simply lofted the ball over the top aimlessly for Long or a winger to try and chase, the fact we can keep the ball better makes a huge difference. He mentioned when he joined when he was younger he would train with the Man City first team a lot and it sure is noticeable in terms of his touch and composure.

Also regarding Bunney he flew forward at every opportunity and almost every time overlapped his winger who was Foley for most of the game. It did leave him exposed big time but I think a lot of that was due to who was infront of him. I think when he has Ariyibi or Pereira in front of him he wont need to overlap as they are more likely to take on their man themselves, he can be more of a support and then overlap on occasions.

Pretty interesting that the full back position has been our biggest upgrade so far, shows how there is no room for sentiment in football. I love Buchs and Moloney but they are not going to be getting any game time any time soon at this rate.

I tweeted on Saturday evening that its huge credit to JFH who seems to have identified our biggest issues in the fullback positions. Whereas every one of us said wingers/strikers/ball winning midfielders etc as the main requirement.

That is what you want to see the manager do. Out managing us keyboard warriors!  Grin

JE and Page were never at the races, and that is now even more evident.

JFH has picked some strange line ups during his tenure (Revell on the wing!) BUT now that he is able to bring in his own players he is excelling. Im optimistic that he's what many of us thought he would be when he first arrived…a dam good manager!

Agree with a lot of above. Was impressed on the whole, there was a lot of misplaced passes in the first half but that's to be expected with so many new players (although some were just poor). The last 10 mins was nervous but there was a lot riding on the game for the players, lots of debuts, big home crowd, win and out of relegation etc. Will be interesting to see them on Saturday when they play at Blackburn with no expectations and a lot less pressure.
Regarding Hoskins, he didn't seem on it and not his best game. If he wasn't happy to come off and kicked bottles etc I am happy about that. We don't need players who are satisfied with a poor performance or with being subbed. Players always have disagreements with manager, it just depends on how bad and if its just a spat.

Things are looking promising but still not out of it just yet

Have you ever seen this....Another Sunday and Sweet F.A. If you enjoyed the footy scene from Kes I recommend it.

Nice to see their striker get sent off; particular after his rather OTT reactions in front of the Cobblers fans at their ground last season.

Not everyone!

..........

New manager needs to look for wing-backs in the January window also, Maloney and Buchs haven't got the athleticism and speed of many of the other teams players for me.

Sorry, couldn't resist a gloat!  Grin

Interesting that you would presume I like Jeremy Corbyn...I don't see what politics has to do with this?

Being brought up in a correct way however, does...
