That Oldham link really impresses me: Smiley Its a situation reminiscent of Archer. At the time Oldham was having a poor spell and as you know we quickly find a scapegoat to vent our frustrations; a la vV. Every game I have seen him play he has not been responsible for the loss or draw. He impressed me against Blackburn, Soton U23 and P'boro(Oct 2017); if he has to play as a No 1 for whatever reason I won't be too unduly worried. In fact, we have defensive players who I worry about more! Finally, I am surprised that you express such a downer on a Cobblers player particularly one who has had limited opportunities here. Give him a first team run and then perhaps we may come up with a balanced viewpoint.

Archer at that moment in time was not good enough (was he late teens/early twenties?). Not what you want from a short term loan (same goes for Roofe).

Cornell at this moment in time is not good enough. At the age of 27, you wonder if he'll ever make it as a No. 1 at league football.

Besides that, I think we actually agree that he has put in some good performances at reserve level cup football - for which he is more than adequate for.

So you can add Barnett for another year (with the option of extending by a further 12 months).

The sooner we can shift Kassim + Bowditch (and Buchs if he's not in DA's plans) the better.

I heard that Kasim wasn't turning up to training last season trying to force the club to pay him off.

If that was the case surely the club could just fine him his wages

That won't be true. He'd be sacked for gross misconduct like we all would.

Not massively thrilled with Barnett re-signing, he’ll do as cover I suppose but hopefully we can keep hold of Taylor and Pierre and they can have a good pre-season and hit the ground running for the new season. It’ll be interesting to see what happens to Turnbull and bunney now - turnbull especially looks surplus to requirements.

Thought that Barnett played well in the last few games of the season.

I reckon Barnett is just the type of 'character' the team missed last season. He may lack a bit in ability, but he makes up for that in other areas.

The reason why we did so well 2 years ago was more down to team spirit, and having the right individuals in the team more so than actual ability. They blended well and together they were formidable. History has shown us that only Ricky Holmes kicked on after leaving us, the rest either dropped down the leagues or are playing for mid level league1 teams.

Someone liked VV wouldn't have lasted 5 minutes in that side. Not one shirked a challenge, and not one went into hiding when the chips were down. Bunney and Powell let the latter happen…good players, but not players you want in a battle.

Next season I want to see a team packed with players who will keep it going all the way until the final whistle, regardless of what the score is. You can rely on Barnett to do just that for sure.

Austin states that no contact made from any other clubs for any of our players.

Surprised? No not really

Agree, most of them were awful last season with only a few exceptions.

Unless we find a club that is desperate to sign just about anyone, I think most of the squad we have so far will be here at the start of the season.

Probably on wages that are too high to take on.

Defenders from a team that leaked goals and forwards that couldn’t score. Form an orderly queue please.

That said we are going to smash teams this coming season.

Yes I have been drinking.

Still 3 goalkeepers and 1 to come in. Probably Coddington will also be on his way then.
