Great result yesterday. Sam Hoskins and Matt Crooks caught the eye, but a lot of ugly stuff done by the defence, repulsing all those long balls into the box very impressive. Being able to stand near the half-way line reminiscent of the old days. The win however was tarnished by the constant chants of swearing by an admittedly small- but very loud-minority of Cobblers fans nearby. The fact that no-one mentions it presumably means this is a normal part of the away day 'experience' and not worthy of comment.
I felt embarrassed for both managers and the 4th official just in front of it, and hardly think it reflects well on the club. Heaven knows what impression it gives to women and children present. I was cringing at the unedifying chanting, and can't but think if a hundred or so were swearing in unison at the top of their voices on the market square at 330pm on a Saturday afternoon that they would be arrested for a breach of the peace. However it seems par for the course at a football ground.
I love the 'Fields of Green' and ' John Joe O' Toole' songs. But just chanting, 'You're f.....g s..t' every few minutes is not acceptable to any decent follower of the Cobblers.

I can put up with swearing, but the song about the posh doing things to children is a step too far for me, and it should be stopped.

Must be a new one as not heard it and agree with you some things should be out of bounds.

All together now...

“YOU’RE SO POOR IT’S UNBELIEVABLE”

“WHO’S THE RASCAL IN THE BLACK”

“YOU’RE GOING TO GET YOUR FLIPPING HEADS KICKED IN”

Hmmn... Do you think that last one’s maybe a little strong?

I get that's it's part and parcel of the game, but there's something about a 40 year old bloke shouting "C*NT" over and over that doesn't seem right.

He's probably frustrated in more ways than one.

Creative swearing a la 'thick of it' is funny. Using it aggressively against another person is not, and pointless.

Don't get me started on w anker hand signs. Its just embarrassing

Its based on when the saints go marching in, and it's very uncomfortable to listen to. Personally I fail to see how you can find humour in singing about paedophilia.

Over the last 60+ years we have always had an unruly element. The group our "shocked" supporter referred reflect that tradition. I am sorry his sensibilities are offended, but they bring atmosphere and fanatical support; best not to be a library. You don't have to listen perhaps even join just modifying the words to suit. There is nothing better being in a Cobblers crowd in full swing; far better than a rock concert or some unknown  singer!

The first time I took my kids to a game they turned to me with their hands over their mouths in shock and giggled when they heard some of our swearier songs. Now they don't pay any attention to it at all.

Mind you, they are a pair of **** foul mouthed little **** c***s.  Kiss

I know the song you're on about and agree with you. They have a few songs which are a bit cringey. It's hard to knock them completely because their group do travel to most away games in mass and do add to atmospheres. But I'm not a big fan of that song. The good thing is no-one seems to join in and it'll just die down completely soon enough.

This was my reaction when I was taken to my first game in 96  Grin. I loved that from a young age.

I've not heard a song about Paedophilia. Overall I think away support is pretty restrained in term of song content and behaviour.

The only song I want to see killed off is the stupid IRA one.

Look at Cov/Portsmouth recently at Franchise so see genuine madness!
