So it seems that getting players to surround the ref after an incident does pay off, it certainly did for Wigan last night. What a weak ref Anthony Taylor proved to be, in front of the national TV cameras too. It sends out a message that if you give the ref enough verbal's he might change his mind, he really has set up his colleagues for a load of hassle !
15 years ago that challenge wouldn't have been a booking let alone a sending off.

Well unless you have a time machine what you have said about the sending of is irreverent as this is now not then.  The challenge made was quite similar to that of the Walsall lad who took out Foley a few weeks back.  Red card. After seeing the City fans reaction after the game, good job  Grin Arrogance is so ugly. Alan Shearer is correct when he said that the big teams should put out their first 11 and then make subs when/if they go ahead.

I have no time for this part of the game. Until such time as the FA back the refs and allow them to grow some balls and penalise players for dissent and talking back to the ref this will continue. It is one area that football can learn from the egg chasers.

They tried to clamp down on it by moving free kicks forwards 10 yards when dissent was found, but then they discontinued it for some reason.

Dragging this one from way back, but some shocking scenes from Turkey yesterday. VAR officials maybe, but not the ref.  Shocked

I don't know what is more shocking...

The fact that the ref said it was his own fault (probably in fear of his life), the guy running on to kick him in the head whilst he was down (he was going to do a full Joe Pesci), or the offender who denies throwing the punch and saying that he just slapped him. Then the offender is hospitalised as a heart attack risk and the victim is wearing a brace as though he has broken his neck.

It makes 'kissgate' all look a bit boring.

Not a great advertisement for Turkish referee recruitment.
