I remember once before them being overly confident about beating us...
Indeed - even the commentator at 3 nil was talking inappropriately - then big John Gayle got one back there - and the rest is delightful history and without doubt the game with the best atmosphere Sixfields has ever seen.

New striker signed. Could mean we won't be seeing KvV anytime soon?

Yep, Sixfields has never reached that level again, though that'd be extremely hard to match! I think there was a story doing the rounds that Big John psyched out the Rovers players in the tunnel including chucking the ball at their heads pre match!

He was still talking inappropriately after Gayle scored, at the finish. Wembley!... lol

They've had the edge over us for the last few games and if they get an early goal it could get ugly again.
Our recent away form does give some hope though.

Heavy rain forecast all day on Saturday. That open, exposed away end terrace is going to be fun. Although from our Boxing Day win there in 2003, I didn't seem to mind the rain so much that day
Did you drop your phone through the temp stand one year poggy

Yes, it was that game and I'd somehow managed to get into this stand for the second half. Phone still worked though, the Nokia 3210 was indestructible

No that was against Swansea - he did it to Carl Heggs - when we subsequently signed the Heggo there was some initial tension in the dressing room

Found this gem about Big John Gayle and the Cardiff play off Home leg. Lively everywhere!
The Cobblers ran out 3-2 winners back at Sixfields in a match that Cardiff's Jason Perry has conceded they lost "in the tunnel".
"Northampton were very loud and physical and some of our younger players didn't react to it as well as they might have," he told Wales Online.
Grayson concedes that they were not averse to using their physical advantages.
"We had John Gayle staring everybody down and we were quite an imposing team," he said. "We were very good defensively and we won quite a few games 1-0."

I think someone should just take this city of Peterborough and just... just flush it down the f***in' toilet

It might not be a bad thing if the weather makes the pitch heavy - if the match turns into a battle/lottery it probably gives us a better chance.

My predictions for tomorrow, it will rain, we all get soaked on that poxy corner terrace, and the traffic away from the game will be horrendous. Nothing new there then. As for the actual game, Buchs to return at left back, JJ to score first and get sent off for over celebrating, (he was already on a yellow, for a wild challenge) and Berto to come on as sub, beat half the team on a wild mazy run, and completely miss an open goal in front of the away seats, the ball ending up in someones garden behind the stand. And we lose 3-1. As you can tell, I am not optimistic about this one.

We won’t get anything here unless one or two of the under performers come off . Bunney , grimes , Long and JJOT need to hit form and Facey has to start .
