on the panel is what I said and best candidate/s agreed and chosen there from.
Just my opinion but players should not take any part in selecting a manager, even in a panel capacity. They're not objective and tbh unfair to expect them to be. If I was offered the chance to pick my own boss it would be difficult not to be swayed by how he might treat me rather than the company or business as a whole....

The manager game and football in general is not as straight forward as you'd think. Managers are linked to agents, players are linked to agents. It's an area that needs reform.

Firstly in football you can never be gaureenteed a starting place if you dont put in a 7 out of 10 every game so players know the consequences. As for formations, training regime, game management, coaching techniques, fitness etc, these all varies greatly from one coach to another and if it doesn't sit well with the main 5 senior contracted players and their preferences , the new managers become ex ones very soon. The final decision from a small selection then is chosen by the powers that be. Id be surprised if a new managerial chose isnt run past the senior players as they wouldve previously worked with the good bad and ugly.

"A manager with great contacts in the game" is normally seen as a positive?

So if we have some over 30s players choosing a manager, they may only be here a year with him.
I don't like the idea of players choosing, it would be a bit undermining when he drops them and they think 'i helped you get the job'
The hiring of a manager should be down to chairman or the board, that way if it doesn't go as planned - the blame falls at their door. No need to complicate it.

I suppose you just take one from the pool of out of work managers you haven't used before? NEXT..

DA for me...he's had more of a positive impact than any of Page, JED or JFH in the few weeks he's been at the helm already...
He knows all the current players temperaments, so can bin off/transfer list the deadwood.
Any outside new manager will come in and start with a clean slate saying everyone will be judge from now.....bollox
Some of our players don't deserve any more chances imp....
Just hope Deano wants the gig full time...

Far too soon to tell in my opinion. We're still 1 point worse off than JFH first few games in charge as an example. Apologies if I've missed it anywhere... has DA said he wants the job full time?

No but I think he would take it if he kept us up . I’m not sure all the management team would though .

so now we are heading to the basement league once more who do we get in?
Personally i believe we have a at least 5 players that should walk into any Div 2 side so on that basis we need a manger to gel this club together and move us in the right direction.

Was thinking Austin until the last sham of a 20 minutes today.. been said already on the other threads but the double (ridiculous) substitution plus putting Taylor up front when a draw was enough to take it to next week has shown me he's not up to the task.

I can only echo that sentiment and not made with hindsight.......everyone around me couldn’t believe it at the time......and with the initiative and momentum handed on a plate to a bloody awful Walsall side ...we then concede and totally f*** the season up. Simply Bad Management.....why? Oh Why?

Don't be gutless. I didn't agree with the choice but at least he had the balls to go for it. To say a point would have done.... Is straight from the JFH handbook.

How does taking your most threatening player on the day and also your combative ball winner (both of them were our best players) going to increase your chances of winning? Replace crooks with a Ricky Holmes then so be it but come on... Long on the wing!! Kevin (I'm off next month anyway) Van Veen!!Clueless!

Don't disagree. Wouldn't have been my choice. The facts are however it was the 78th minute and it was still nil nil. He had the guts to try something. I will never criticise someone for trying to change the game.

I think he explained his reasoning in the interview. Shaun was on a yellow and the game was getting stretched, a second yellow was possible. Crooks has been struggling with his hamstring and was stretching his leg at the 65 minute mark. He wanted to get as many possible goalscorers on to try and get the all important goal. Management is always easy in hindsight isn't it? I was a little surprised however that Taylor was sent forward, and that no one on the bench appeared to have a clue of the latest scores in the other matches, a draw would at least of taken it into the final weekend.
