Of them the only 2 id be gutted to see go (footballing, not sentimental wise) are Taylor and Facey. Think we'd struggle to get anyone better (on paper) than Pierre though and think he'll be with us next season. Buchs and Maloney are decent back up players but their recent performances have been below par (as much as it pains me to say it as i love Moloney in particular). Phillips looked decent at times but he's been out for so long now, it'll difficult for him. Barnett is plain average but fine as a 4th choice CB I suppose, and Bunney is just a huge liability with only one redeeming quality in his crossing. 3 or 4 needed at least.
Buchs and Moloney are no longer cut out for League 1, but I think will still be good performers in League 2 for 1 more season and certainly provide strong back-up at that level to say the least. Taylor and Facey will be stand-outs in League 2, Pierre will be a strong performer also and Barnett is a more than adequate squad player for that level. Philips has already proved himself to be good enough should he be fit for next season. The jury is still out on Bunney IMO but feel he shouldn't be written off just yet.

Agree with Bungle regarding tactical nous.
The goals we have conceded under DA have been the exact same as before.

Is that based on the fact he didn't play yesterday? Cause I'm not sure thats a reason.

Only 2 goals in 18 games for them though, hardly the credentials for a proven goalscorer. Just compare his record at Cambridge with Richards at Swindon or Revell at Stevenage for that matter.
His is a similar sort of player to Sam Hoskins and could provide back-up but is not the out and out goalscorer that we need for next year.

I was told before the game, by someone who often appears to be in the know. Was a reason given for his absence yesterday? I haven't heard one as yet. Man City to L1 and then down to L2? I can understand it...but you are part of a whole team that fell short.

Judging by the posts on his twitter his comments don't seem to suggest he wants out

We've conceded 8 goals in five games under Austin. Lets remember also that he was part of coaching team which oversaw us finishing on a goal difference of -34.
Like I say, he's clearly a decent man manager and has a refreshingly positive 'front foot' mentality.
Unfortunately, that doesn't mean that he has the tactical nous to organise a defence or that he can make good decisions in the transfer market - the jury is firmly out in these crucial areas.
At least 3 of those 5 were against teams in and around us

I think the point about Hoskins is that the way he plays and stetches defences has been an essential part of us being a much more threatening team going forward in the last few games. He is clearly not an out and out gaolscorer like Long, but has been largely responsible for us creating loads more chances. There no point having better strikers on the pitch if we're not creating anything. That was the situation when vV and /or Long were being picked. Personally I think Hoskins could be valuable in L2 in this current role, with a goalscorer alongside him.
Long stretches defences equally as well as sammy. Watch his goal at Oxford. The continual long balls and tripe lack of service have been the bigger issue

Ive definitely concluded that we may as well try and get Austin to stay on. At least he's a bit of a character. And like others have said, he seems to have good motivational skills.
In all likeliness its going to be a transitional time, and Austin ticks all of the boxes. I can't see us attracting a proven manager at this point in time, the situation is surely going to be reducing the wage bill and somehow bringing in some strikers who *might be able to score goals. We need a couple, thats for sure.

I have it on v good authority that DA didn't want the job full time this was a few weeks ago, I will know more on Tuesday. For me it has to be Rosler or Alexander, we need a bit more experience, we still can't keep a clean sheet to save our lives.

What makes me want Austin more is the terrifying list of names that will become available soon and who'd be looking for jobs!

Didn't go to the Plymouth home game then? We won 2-0 and we never looked like conceding...

Walsall also, at any other stage of the season that would of ended 0-0.

Saw somewhere (official site maybe) that he was out with a "knock". Classics short term cover up injury. Shayme if he goes but the benefit of having everyone on longer term contracts is that we can demand a fee at least.

Dean has over 25 years of experience in football and started playing in 2000 to build a bridge between midfield and defence. He crafted a full-service of skills to design, manage and implement a management package from beginning to end. Dean’s drive, passion and energetic leadership are the force field that continues to push the club and squad benefits forward into the future.
When you meet Dean, you’ll immediately notice his grit and passion. This translates into his dedication to the players and the innovative mindset that helps them meet their goals.
In his free time, Dean enjoys his family, and life away from football

I'm guessing that as a January window signing he might have a relegation clause?

What do people make of Mark Warburton being linked to the job? Very impressive at Brentford and Rangers
