The manager is in place which is why the contracts can be issued .
The more surprising thing is why there hasn’t been more released but I assume this is work in progress

The suprising thing is if the new manager is in place why has it not been announced???

8 points from 5 games.Bit of maths here: Over 45 games ( I know it's 46) that's 72 points.

You're not factoring in 3 of those 5 games were teams in and around the bottom

Whoever the management team is needs to make us a solid unit and stop us shipping goals left right and centre. So if it is DA then offering Contracts to the likes of Barnett and Maloney as part of a shambolic defence is very worrying.

I might have read things wrong but regarding Barnett I don’t think he’s been offered a contract as such.

My reading of it is that the club have an option for a second year on his contract but that second year comes with some clauses in Barnetts favour, probably play x games to trigger another year. The talks they are in are likely to be something like “we’d like to take up the option on your second year but we’d like you waive the clauses, oh and take a % pay cut”.

At the end of the season those games ain’t easy to win, ask Plymouth.

I just checked in my newspaper, and the bottom of League 1 sits quite close to the top of League 2. Wink

I’m sure we only got 7 points from the last 5 games. Would make your bit of maths a little out.

Possibly right but I'd hardly say bury, Oldham or walsall are anything other than very average.

Yes you're quite right, the rescheduled Shrewsbury game confused me as it was supposed to be played after Posh.

True but the ‘rules’ often don’t apply in those end of season games, especially the Oldham game. All leagues have crazy results in the last few games. Plus we’ll be a league lower next year, half the league will be weaker than those teams.

This. And he matched JFH first 5 game record (I think).

If you were impartial to the Cobblers, and saw we'd been relegated and are looking to appoint the caretaker manager you'd call us tinpot. Oldham paid the price for appointing a caretaker manager after 5 games of 'new manager bounce' form.

What exactly is it we want from our new bloke? For me there are ideally 4 criteria that our potential manager requires.
Proven ability to recruit the right players in the lower leagues on a limited budget.
Excellent motivational skills.
Tactical brilliance.
An outstanding track record.
The question is not does DA have all these, the question is how does he compare to every other potential candidate? I have to say when you apply this criteria to the possible candidates it seems like choosing between a broken arm and a broken leg? For me DA seems to be getting the vote because he scores unproven rather than an outright fail in some areas?

Since his recall Barnett has done pretty well. He was nearly MOM against Oldham.

I think DA is a top bloke and a great coach BUT I don't think he is a manager, it's obviously the cheap way and I fcuking despair that we've given a two year contract to Cornell, not good signs of investment.
I will give my full support to DA if he gets the job BTW.

DA has galvanised the whole club & created a special bond with the supporters in his short tenure...not an easy thing to achieve.

He's also served up far more attacking football than the last 3 managers combined!

His passion, positivity & honest interviews resonate with supporters like Sir Chris used to.

It reminds me of when Luton appointed another untried highly rated coach Nathan Jones

If DA gets the job, hopefully he can be as successful as him

Many of our supporters did not take to Archer whilst Milwall did! Would have thought that as a Number 2 Cornell is ok?
