I've been a long time voyeur of this Board but found the attached youtube video and felt compelled to post it (if it has already been uploaded then please ignore!). The similarity between Dean Austin's time at Palace and our current plight is striking. Perhaps Dean may, after all, prove to be the man to bring us back from the brink........ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Yr50XIU6AU&sns=em

Excellent. DA certainly seems the right type of person we need at the moment. A winner. Lets hope he can get the players thinking that way.

Sorry to disappoint you but no affinity with Dean . It does however make you wonder what has been going on behind the scenes as the players lack of steel and fighting spirit has been noticeable and is, in my view, one of the prime reasons behind our current predicament.

Why haven't you been on here before - not as a spectator but as a contributor? A bit of positivity never goes amiss.

Prob because of the trolls on here nevers, you would be enough to put the majority off.

Well if he can bring that sort of passion and commitment to the team then I think he will do a great job for us. That's the sort of passion I want to see at the club. Excellent post thanks.

Agree the video is very impressive and you would think (on this) he is just the sort of character we need at present. We will see how it now plays out - but its a good opportunity for him regardless to see if he can get something out of the players where Jimmy failed miserably.

He seems to be a more inspiring speaker than JFH so here's hoping with fingers crossed, good luck Dean!

Probably stating the obvious but...players lack of fight and steel goes hand in hand with, if not at the very doorstep of, the thankfully departed Jimmy!

Northampton Town caretaker manager Dean Austin has confirmed that on loan Gboly Ariyibi, Boris Mathis and Hildeberto Pereira have returned to their parent clubs.
Ariyibi has returned to Nottingham Forest, Mathis is back with Everton while Pereira has gone back to Legia Warsaw.
"Gboly has picked up an injury." said caretaker manager Dean Austin.
"Jimmy had already made a decision about Hildeberto and I made the decision about Boris.
"You have to make decisions as a manager that you think are going to help the group. I need people around who want to play for this football club, players that will give their heart and soul and every last drop of sweat and blood for this team and do what they've got to do to get the results we strive for.
"I felt it was best at this moment in time with only 5 games to go that the core of the group are already signed here. I don't want to be working with 23-24 players every day.
"We will demand of the players involved and we know we will receive their total commitment in these final 5 games."
ALL THE BEST DEANO!

Dean Austin said he was brought to the club by JFH, some have suggested it was a club appointment - clearly not.

It’s been a terrible week. But listening to Austin’s first interview on BBC Radio Northampton’s was heartening. Avoids cliches and says the right things. Comes over a bit like a cockney Wilder! Clearly the suggestion is that we are going to see a different mentality. Can’t ask for more than that and see where it takes us in the next four weeks.
