Very sad to hear that former stadium announcer Pete Smith has passed away.
Fond memories of Pete and his voice that has been much missed since the days when Radio Cobblers took over. Clearly had a real passion for the club and did all of his work on a voluntary basis as far as I know.
I remember many a cheeky comment towards the away team during his time on the mic!
RIP Pete and thoughts with the family x

So sad to read this. His son Matt was a good friend for many years in the 90’s, until we grew up and started families. Pete managed our football team and was a very entertaining after dinner speaker. Certainly a big character and I will keep fond memories of him. A very sad loss.

I think it was was Pete Smith that did the draws at half time at The County Ground. Anyway, he always said that you could collect your prize "under D stand" and a few of us would immediately shout "at D end of D game". Actually it might have been just me. Simple pleasures.

I remember him reading out the teams and playing for the opposition was Ian Bogey and Pete's comment was "Who picked him"

Indeed, I knew Pete pretty well, so very sad to hear of his passing. His voice resonates around sixfields even today and as others gave said others taking up the role have been knowhere near the personality and humour of Pete.
His recruitment company also sponsored tge town league for a number of years so he did lots for grassroots football in northants.
RIP Pete

I only knew Pete from conversations revolving around the Cobblers, and always found him to be affable and capable of putting a smile on my face. Good bloke. Thoughts go out to friends and family. R.I.P. Pete.
