My most local fixture of the season... been looking forward to it since the season started. Manic Street Preachers in Birmingham on the Friday, fans team game at Walsall Saturday morning, afternoon away day followed by beers and food in the city centre. Why can't all weekends be like this?
Mine are😉

So, can everyone keep their feet on the ground after last Saturday?
A rare experience for the suffering few......
Loanees playing for their "futures" at their home clubs. Div 1 players playing to keep their Div 1 wages. Genuine players playing because results mean something to them.
An interim Manager who has released something that was always there? Or, was there double-dealing behind the scenes?
John Sheridan?

OK. So, a bit of analysis.
Saturday was a one off. Dean Austin knows this.
Plymouth were missing their bully of a CF, who has been the key to their good run this side of Christmas. They thought that we would be push-over on Sat., regardless. They got it wrong. They were screwed.
So, Walsall away......
They will have a "home" ref. So, we can expect no decisions in our favour in the first half.
They will have done their homework. Things have not been good since Dean Keates took over. But, he is not daft. He has a squad that can do things if he motivates them. Expect lots of driving runs from the half-way line in wide positions. Oztumer, the tormenter in chief, will be on the bench, ready for a 30 minute cameo as we start to tire. When he comes on, the whole game changes to a narrow through the middle affair. Lets just hope we have got a 2 goal advantage by then.
Our line up stays the same.
We trust in having 2 full-backs that can tackle and snuff-out wide attacks (ie, Buchs & Facey/Moloney). O'Toole drops back alongside McW as tight defensive midfielders, but, both have licence to drive forward if needed. Foley comes in for a wide position (because he can tackle), freeing Crooks to play in a floating role between midfield and Hoskins.
Grimes will find himself benched. (He has finally proved to Swansea that he is worth a contract, so, we don't need to play him any more).
Long can carry on up the M6 and find another mug team to pay his wages.

It’s clear our players are up for this, and everyone is always banging on about momentum, well at last we now have it. I truly believe this is going down to the wire. Being over here and unable to go to these 2 games is an effing nightmare. Follow your dreams down under my arse, gutted!

Are you JFH in disguise? DO NOT TINKER WITH THE TEAM! Same again Saturday, as it will sound like a home game!

Absolutely, Vintage. Austin has managed wonders so far, but we are still only halfway. And even then we are relying on other teams bottling it. We will have a better idea of our chances by 10pm Tuesday, and an even better idea by teatime Saturday. For now, though, I am enjoying our upsurge while also keeping my optimism in check. If I had to put money on it, I suspect it will go down to the wire, but that our poxy goal difference will do for us.

I really hope Austin sticks with the winning team. They will be full of confidence and now have an ever better understanding of what their roles are.No need to change things.
JFH picked teams for the opposition (and got it wrong more often than not) rather than picking OUR best team. Saturday was an example of what you can achieve if you concentrate on your own game first.

Heads up for those travelling - Villa and Wolves are both at home with 3pm kick offs on Saturday so that's about 65,000 people attending those two. The M6 and trains will no doubt be busy.

Particularly the trains going from New Street past Aston and onto The Bescot.

I can’t see oztumer being left on the bench for this one - I’m assuming he must be carrying a knock that’s the reason he hasn’t started the last few matches. I’ve looked at Walsall several times this season and thought that I’ve never seen a side so dependent on one player so it would be suicide to leave him out on Saturday.

I agree he has a pedigree, but I don't recall him doing much against us in the reverse fixture. Perhaps that's just my memory though!
