We take on Oldham Athletic at Sixfields on Saturday 5th May in our last game of the season and our last game in League One for some time to come.

A reminder- we are not mathematically relegated, but will only survive if Rochdale lose and we beat Oldham by a nine-goal margin. Therefore, to all intents and purposes we are down. Oldham on the other hand will need to beat us to be sure of their safety.

This is very likely to be Dean Austin's final game in charge as well, and though he didn't keep us up in the end, I think he's done a damn fine job as caretaker manager considering the circumstances and the situation he inherited, and gave us fans some hope going into the final games of the season. He deserves a good send off on Saturday.

It may also be the last chance to see many of our squad, as one would imagine that 80% of our players will be departing for pastures new in the summer break. I'm sure some of our loanees, if they do feature, will not receive the greatest of receptions, and also Van Veen will be deservedly booed, but remember that some of our Cobblers 'legends' in O'Toole and Buchanan may not be at the club next season either.

As far as our lineup is concerned, I would hope that Dean will take the opportunity presented by this 'dead rubber' to give some of our younger players a chance. I'd like to see both McWilliams brothers involved, along with James Goff or Luke Coddington.

At least the other team has something riding on it to make it slightly more interesting.

Might spend 90 minutes hammering the lino in attempt to make them cry.

Bit harsh to say the least. JJ has carried the team most of the season and understandably looks tired.

He doesn't know anything, but you always worry about your best players when you get relegated.

The one bright spot in all this is that we have friends coming to town to visit on Saturday and have booked a table at a restaurant because I didn't realise it was an evening kick off. At least I won't have to make myself unpopular now!
