Well in my opinion you are missing a sense of balance between ideal and reality - because your opinion is so skewed you make (in my opinion) ridiculous comments like an "outright belittling programme...." If you alow yourself to be belittled by this so called programme then frankly more fool you - I'm generally proud of my club - sometimes less so due to performance on and off the field but overall proud of who I support and why - the why is because it's my team from my town.
Ambition is to be encouraged of course but ignoring so many realities really does your argument no favors.
You still hold on to the totally unsubstantiated view that there is a better alternative than KT somehow waiting in the wings - well even if your scurrilous accusations of KT are even half true where are they?
I clearly stated we all want different things, mine is a modicum of sustainable investment that engages with all our support base and catchment in order to grow our club, which isnt unrealistic as you dont want change and are happy with nothing ever happening .. which is your preference and good luck to you. As for scurrilous accusations, what?? Nothing has happened in 20 years and even less over these last 3 and its this I comment on and in the absence of reasons why this should be and whether there is a correlation to the Chairmans statement that playing in a 6400 home capacity minature football stadium, the smallest of any other uk city/town of over 100,000 by nearly double.. but is about right for our club with 230,000 (750,000 county inhabitants!) I understand it make no financial benefit for him and co, as he probably isnt hanging around but for me if this is possible then thats very unfair on our Town, club and its supporters Again I will stand corrected and appolgise to all you good folk if I've missed the money shot, just point me to where it stated the things we need are happening and a bright new future is on the horizon. All I ever seem to hear is triumphantly blowning our own trumpet at the smallest things followed by NBC this and land leases that and what I regard as belittling and nothing of substance in regards to what I want for our club (yes you want for nothing, I get that) and all from the horses mouth!

We all want the same thing. We all want a club, that is modeled on sustainable growth with a genuine stake in the wider community. It just strikes me, that you seem to think you have the monopoly on that vision.

When you say 'we all want the same thing ' do you mean 'we all want the same thing' or just us the long suffering supporters? I know you spent some time chatting and were told things in private and you're obviously happy with what was disclosed, so to keep confidentiality, what number Nigel do you think sums things up for us... 1/Good 2/The same 3/Worse 4/No idea 5/ Better not knowing 6/ in kelvin we trust and the NBC are rotters. 7/NBC are actually good guys... 8/All of the above.

Totally agree Beds
I think many on here take our wishes for a progressive club befitting our population and location as a very personal attack on DC / KT
KT is very generous with his time and is a great people person, the exact opposite to DC !
Hammy and others like KT and that is enough for him to fully support him, again the exact opposite with DC
We are constant in that we look at the actions or lack of them and so are not happy. Personally again why I picked up so early on DC's motives, is that I look at the small details and make judgements from a collection of those.
KT has said that NTFC does not need a 10k stadium, doesn't need it's own training ground, doesn't need to build / aim for the Championship - That is why I for one are not happy

If I had to go out on a limb, I would say 7. But I won't say that NBC are rotters. I have to work with them Look. In no way am I suggesting I have some sort of affinity with KT. I just get a feeling from him, that he is acutely aware of not making the same mistakes that DC did with over promising. I believe the frustration he has shown lately is genuine. Like most of us, he must feel gutted that the initial success we enjoyed under Wilder, appears to have turned sour. But regardless of what anyone says, he tried to keep us in league one. I've gone as much one way as you have the other Dave. That's why I admire your opinions. You are prepared to put them out there and quite often get shot down for them. But even you must see that the current situation is a country mile away from where he wants us to be.

A football club is many things to different people and the question is what do you want from your local club.
My ideal club would be one that has a open and definitive idea of where it should be competing and have a good playing style in a stadium befitting of its catchment, It would be well respected within it and make its supporters feel a small part of it and being an important factor in building it up to give it a bright future. It would compete with and strive to better all its rivals on and off the pitch. This may only be as an outside hope for a league one play off place but one that doesn't constantly dwell in the basement division..
What I dont want is a club in a constant 20 year battle with the local council for god only knows why as its a classified secret. A club with poor infrastructure but nothing to show its loyal supporters that its striving to improve . One that adopted an outright belittling programme to curb any enthusiasm amongst its catchment that we may one day survive outside the 4th division..
So what is it Im missing? Why should I be more trusting, agree with and toe the party line? T
once again you are missing a budgetary figure you feel is necessary to support your vision? You provide a figure based on a comparable ground and I’ll run the projections. It seems a reasonable request, you attack other fans, attack the chairman, in fact anyone who doesn’t fall into line with your vision yet steadfastly refuse to enter into a monetary debate? I.E what is actually required to achieve your aims in terms of finances? At least it may end up providing some clarity with what’s actually required, how realistic these aims are and the kind of financial clout any new owner would need to fulfil them? Perfectly reasonable request with I feel an interesting evaluation opportunity for a never ending debate? So once again how much do you feel is required over what term with regards to both the redevelopment and repayment period?

Don't think there are many that think the club has reached it's peak potential, not even Kelvin. Don't own the stadium which is arguably worse than when it was built. Don't own a training ground. Attendances are so-so for the size of the catchment area. On the pitch nothing to write home about, club lacking an identity, fan representation less than ideal.
It is not difficult to benchmark ourselves against other clubs, surely we have to strive towards the best?
There is room for improvement and time will tell if the Thomas/Bower Group are able to produce tangible results on this level.
If you do want improvements there is a Trust meeting coming up. That would be a good place to start. We are stronger together definitely.

Is this part true or has he said there is no need for those things right now? There is a difference. I've always got the impression that KT is looking for sensible sustainable growth, rather than a DC style 5 year plan. This is why I've largely stayed supportive of him, although I am as frustrated as everyone with the lack of movement on the East. If I'm wrong I'm more than happy to hold my hands up.

The budgetary figure you keep refering to is a very broad brush.. here's some choices to narrow it down and I'll answer your question. 1/ We are skint broke and struggling to pay the bills..no budget. 2/We are broke and reliant on the good will of our local council to facilitate speculators in the hope that they 'do something' with their good fortune? Very inlikely to have much of a budget to grow the club as they dont think we warrant any. Or 3/ are we broke but raising revenues through new found good will and togetherness of the support base and local population gathering sponsorships to maintain good standards and a steady build up of infrastructure to help future funds, giving a sustainable and steadily growing budget. Or even 4/ Through take over from the many organisation that are happy to invest heavily into professional football clubs? .. Budget . Very good and instant. Which budgetary figure do you want me to comment on? Will it be one that allows us to compete as equals when we next get back into league 1 or as we have for the 40 years just tread water and hope for the best?

The amount of money you think we would need to fulfil your stadium aspirations or anything else you feel is necessary? There are examples of other clubs at our level have developed their grounds and according to you seem to be run properly, you’ve mentioned enough of them, so it’s a straight forward question that should be relatively simple to answer? At least you’d think so, but somehow I sense a certain resistance?

You spectacularly missed the point there.... Melbourne asked how much money we need to carry out YOUR vision. When you've answered that, have a think where it will realistically come from and within what timescales.

Are you against a small amount of redevelopment that helps grow our clubs product making us a better place to visit, increasing gates, getting more local companies sponsorship and able to buy and sell better players?
Is this not your vision then? Would you prefer 20 more years of land leases and poor facilities?
The sum your looking for is... what ever it takes to shake off the mothballing.

freeTee - show many evidence of KT sustainable growth? ALL of his changes point squarely at short term instant results for minimum investment.
Van my Spleen demonstrates this in terms of players ie: older seasoned pro not up and coming prem youngster
Disco Home Village - All temporary, not built a proper extension or even bothered with a roof
Away Village - Even worse / more non-league than home end village
Club Shop - Sold off to his mates as he did at Oxford
Training Facilities - Moulton College Hired - Does even talk about training facilities although they are perhaps the most important element of a professional club,
Staff - No major changes in staff numbers / personnel / training / equipment
Back to League 2 - say no more
East stand - say no more
Again my issue is not with KT personally, I am more pissed off with so-called fans who are happy that we have a chairman who does not want to develop our football club, worse that than, he doesn't believe in our football club. He has had 2 and half years and as other have said we are in a worse state now than when he took over - I can balance the £166k vat bill with the saleable assets of Ricky Holmes and Adam Smith -
I can't think of too many clubs performing worse than us given our potential etc - except Chesterfield
Having corporate boxes and nice facilities don't guarantee promotion, there are many many factors that go together in running a football, i know it is not easy but that doesn't mean we should try and be the best we can. Yes the club does community work, family awards etc, but so do almost all clubs. I am not requesting we be in the Championship within 5 years, in fact almost the opposite, that we start putting things in place to get the rewards in the future.
I would much rather see £150k spend on a fans village / supporters bar than the £150k we have spent on 5 players in our squad this season. I would much rather see 2 18 year old youth players in and around the team than any 2 of the 9 players we brought in in January. How many of those 9 players will be here in September? How much did they cost ? What did they contribute to our growth? What would have been the benefit for this football club if one or our two young strikers had played instead of Long all season and what difference would it have made for next season / season after? (Long will have no impact for us next season)
Not sure if KT is talking still about hotels, conference centres etc on this other land but pretty sure in the medium / long term it will have no benefit to NTFC whereas if we talked with NBC / Saints / NCCC to develop top notch sports training facilities in that area, then i am 100% confident that all of Northampton would benefit.
I know these are my thoughts but I believe that they are what all fans should agree with in the main and it is certainly how the Trust should be thinking because these ideas will give steady sustainable growth. This is what we should demand of our Chairman and board - whoever they are.

In terms of cost the usual way you price a stadium is by the cost per seat, this then includes all the CAPEX needed. I would estimate that the top tier could be fitted to the South for between £1-2m depending on the foundations which are surpassed to already exist? The East is a complete basket case and to finish it would be in the region of £2-3m. The ROI on this would be horrendous if you just looked at selling tickets and boxes, you would need a very robust business plan to raise the capital, it's not impossible though just look at what Preston did with their new stand.
