I can’t help but feel that with John-Joe the last man on the field and making a point of walking to the south end of the west stand and then throwing his shirt to the crowd...we may have seen his last game for NTFC! I hope not, but ...?

Dean Austin:, I don't want to interfere with your business, but I heard last night you had a report of a transfer. Agent Bob Kemp: I didn't know JJOT was a specialty. I thought he was under contract and did all that other stuff."

I mean you got a pretty big investment in JJOT here, kiddo. I probably cost as much as you did. Well not quite Ten million, I mean your parts are smaller."

I don't see why it's a foregone conclusion that he's off - I believe he's still under contract so it's up to us if he goes or stays. It's undeniable that he's been a legend over the last few years but noone's bigger than the club and if he goes he goes, providing we get what he's worth. I don't really think he is massively suited to the position he's been played in this season but we haven't been overly blessed in the physical attacking midfield position so he's been pressed into action there. Whatever happens we need to address the forwards as a priority and I feel john-joe is more suited in a deeper role.

Think Ricky Holmes two seasons ago.....he was under contract....and did we get what he was worth? Contracts mean Jack these days!

I would hope he doesn’t go. He has very much become a Cobblers legend, but someone may have turned his head...do you really want to be play L2 again? The offer of a bit more money and a change after 4 years. I hope not, but if it needs to be, then it will offer a change to the usual options. I did hear that Crooks intends to stay though!

I hope John-Joe stays he would be a vital cog in our backbone next year. That said if he is off he won't be the only one to go that we'd have wanted to stay. Can't help feeling for a 3rd season in a row we'll be gelling a completely new sqaud together. 🤔

John-Joe is often the last player to stay on the pitch to clap the fans at the end of games and my impression was that he was simply sharing his disappointment in the ultimate outcome of the season with the fans, not that it was necessarily his last game.
Regardless of that it's always difficult to predict where a players future lies during the close season so who knows what will happen in general.

JJOT has been immense for us, if he does go then it's not a huge issue IMO. He has been distinctly average for the past few games. Maybe his heart isn't in it anymore.

Good observation -this season he has shone in games where the majority of the players have been very ordinary - the last few games (post JFH) where generally the team has functioned better he has been much less influential. This won’t make me popular because 90% of fans have a different view than me on him but I want 9 plus players on the park where it is truly difficult to pick a MOM not one star in a consistently losing team.

Much will depend on the ownership situation in my opinion.
If the current board are happy to lose a shed load of cash trying to get the team back up then fair play…but Id deem that as unlikely.
Whats JJ worth? 200k? Maybe 250k? He's 29 I think. McWilliams is a future star, very little doubt about that. There will be plenty of clubs sniffing around for him, thats for sure. Same as Facey I reckon. We've got a sprinkling of very saleable assets. Crookes has got to be worth a bit as well.
Im fully expecting the board to cash in as much as they can before selling the club later on in the summer!

At the end of the day if people leave then so be it. If they don't want to be here then we don't want them here.. Personally it's the usual people who think they know that actually don't have that first clue and like a good rumour which I'm sure there will be plenty of in the coming months. All I know Is I want a squad of players who want to be here and playing for NTFC.

This unless the council pulls their trousers down again and give in to KT and DB with the land leases. I fully expect that the council will stand their ground and KT will be off ASAP. I posted on here last year that and I quote "KT has taken them as far as he's going to" was what I had been told. The source was another FL chairman. The same person also told me that NTFC were not a very popular club in footy circles due to the financial irregularities when we won the championship.

Meeting JJOT for the first time, two things become immediately apparent. The player is fiercely committed to his team mates and intensely loyal to his club — and he seems to juggle both with ease and confidence.
