Haha! That’s taking a concpiracy theory a bit too far. If he had saved us he would have been given the freedom of Sixfields and any contract he wanted.

I know, Grin  I sincerely hope that he is with us for many years to come... Cool

Now that DA has returned from holiday , tomorrow’s press conference should be interesting .
I am sure he will share how he wants to build a club from top to bottom and integrate the young players more ( which is much easier now that he has JB in charge as opposed to previous seasons before last when it was run by less accomplished people ).
It will also be interesting to see who he releases from contract to be available for a move . And whether one of those individuals publicly or privately is VV .

i think there will be a few available for a move - not sure they will be released / paid off from their contracts though?!

unless they have a relegation clause in there.

Well I'm happy and have some reasonably optimism for the season ahead.

One thing I am a bit concerned about is the intention to keep the current full backs by the looks of it .
We conceded a lot of goals last season and something has to change even though McWilliams screening the back four will help .
I personally would not keep Moloney . I’m not sure about Buchs because he is a character.
Bunney can only play as a wing back and so he is an expensive commodity that has not featured under Austin .
Interesting times because I’m not sure Facey or Taylor will stay .

He might be back from holiday, but clearly not for long. He confirmed today that he was off on holiday with his wife and family, next week  Shocked

Austin did better that I thought he would over his few games in charge. Well done to him on getting the job. Hope he keeps it for five or six years however things turn out as I for one am sick on the Northampton town manager merry go round.

That'd be one sure fire way to get some early kudos with the fans.

above all else, i want to see us with a strong defence next season, we conceded far to many goals, if you don't concede, you only need to score one goal to win. Also playing that way got us to the play off finals TWICE.

...and I thought that that was FACT?
Has he submitted a transfer request or not, this is confusing to us not ITK isn't it?

They are both more than adequate (barring injury) for League Two. It's a significantly lower standard of football.

I’m not quite sure why you think you can demand information from other posters ?
If people don’t want to disclose certain information , then they don’t have to !
Like others have said , Van Veen is not committed to this club. That doesn’t mean to say he will leave because of the fee paid and the contract he is on which may not be matched .
The management may also not want him here unless his attitude changes .
He is not the only one who doesn’t want to stay though.

It may be likely but still not the fact that you stated it was?

I have never stated that anyone has put in a transfer request specifically .
I have said that players want to leave and have told the club this .
Other people may have mentioned transfer requests but not me .
I don’t need to justify anything to you .

Three times if you count two under Atkins and one under Boothroyd. Austin was almost tied to a gung-ho approach in his five games so it'll be interesting to see his outlook once we're starting from a clean slate.

I notice small things and the countdown to the season ticket discount date has players shirt numbers with the days left. I think it started at 14 (Hoskins) 13 (O'Donnell) 12 had Facey & Crooks, 11 (Powell) and 10 McWilliams and Bridge NOT van Veen. Keep a watch out for who else appears and who doesn't. I have a feeling Turnbull may be another who's asked to leave, also possibly Bunney?

Would some of these players get other contracts at L1 sides? Aside from a couple of players our squad isn't exactly screaming L1 quality.
