I did contact NTFC, suggesting Oxford City as an ideal friendly - few of us in Oxford, get on well with their fans and directors...but seems it's Fernie Fields and Brackley again! Meanwhile, other clubs get tours of Ireland and Scotland amongst other places!

Both Tuesday nights it seems, "normally" Saturday 3pms from memory, so must be more local games lined up https://www.ntfc.co.uk/news/2018/may/Sileby_brackley_pre-season/

Would love Oxford City again but Brackley is a good replacement. You are right it's generally a Saturday afternoon.

I'm pretty sure you called me out for saying Frome wasn't a worthwhile friendly because of how far away it was for such a relatively minor club!

Brackley is a good choice, not convinced by Sileby but I've still not been there so I might go this season if I'm free.
Personally I'd like to see a rematch against Stourbridge but I realise that's unlikely to happen.

I'm disappointed the Sileby game is a Tuesday night rather than a Saturday. I'd imagine Sileby are too, given the amount of beer and burgers they usually shift.

"I suggest you create a friendly closer to the sea...or preferably IN IT"
Not at all fussed where the friendlies are - there's sure to be a couple of home games in there. Shame that Sileby isn't on the usual Saturday - love a good beer in the sun over there. Will have to be a Bovril under the lights instead!

I wonder if we might play a friendly against Farnborough given DA's previous connection.
I just hope the line up of friendlies is better than last years shambles. We should be playing 8 or 9 games and using the youth / academy players to make up the numbers where necessary.
No doubt there will be a couple of home pre-season games against championship teams within an hours drive that'll earn the club a few £££

You really can't win with friendly results - hammer a non league side and it's no surprise and beat a Championship side and get everyone's hopes up far too much. All completely forgotten once the season starts.

I don't want Oxford City simply because it's local ( in contrast to those that like to cross the road to Fernie Fields once a year). Answered in your own post...I was at Frome last summer. Somerset on a Tuesday night certainly isn't local for me! I was right to call you out...and the word lazy can be used again...to describe your poor comparison of the two situations. Next!

Why do you want Oxford City? Why is it a better friendly option than any other team of that level? Its because its local to you, you sh1thouse. I actually don't live close to Sileby ground at all. I thought it was a great atmosphere in the sun and the level of opposition was appropriate for our youth players to thrive. Furthermore it was likely a big boost to a smaller Northamptonshire club. Listen you utter dick, I've already posted above why OCFC would be a good choice; good relationship with their fans and directors not to mention pretty popular the last time we played! You also didn't say anything when 'çalled out' about Frome being too small in relation to distance to travel...though talk about being up your arse, what do you think friendlies are for? It would be best for us having somewhere exciting to travel to (ever tried it?) but yes, essentially it's getting the team into shape and providing a test...something Oxford City and Brackley Town provide, though hardly Sileby Rangers! Cock!

Don't worry, if you missed the never to be forgotten 3-2 win a few weeks back, they've come down! Must say in all seriousness, a tad put off by Bury St Edmunds due to it being GK's HQ!

You're missing out then While there are a few GK pubs there are some brilliant free houses. The Dove is a proper spit and sawdust pub with six real ales on offer, The Old Cannon brews on site and serves 5 of their own ales on the bar, the beerhouse has 7 pumps with four guest ales and three of it's own brewshed range plus six keg beers and three craft ciders. And then Oakes Barn serves 6 guest ales. And GK aren't that bad, their main offerings are a bit bland but their seasonal ales are decent. Phone NTFC, sack off Oxford City and get them down to BSE

Yeah, agree with that. It's nice to have a bit of a break from football over the summer. The last few years the Sileby game has become a bit of a tradition for us as it's literally just around the corner from our house. Even my wife (who hates football) comes along and enjoys a few drinks in the sunshine while watching the game and the kids can all come along too, including the little one who also doesn't like football but is happy enough playing on the grassy areas at the side of the pitch. In the last 2 years one of my non-Cobblers supporting mates and his wife and kids have joined us too, then we've headed back to ours for more drinks and a barbecue. It's a lovely way to spend a summer afternoon so, personally, I'm disappointed we won't get to do it in the same way this year. I might still go along as it's right on my doorstep but we won't be able to go as a family as it will finish later than the 2 youngest's bed times, so I've no real enthusiasm for it.
