Try going onto Oxford Utd's Yellows Forum. They have a thread about their Summer tour to Ireland, which has descended into full on sectarian warfare!  Grin

You're missing out then  Smiley

While there are a few GK pubs there are some brilliant free houses. The Dove is a proper spit and sawdust pub with six real ales on offer, The Old Cannon brews on site and serves 5 of their own ales on the bar, the beerhouse has 7 pumps with four guest ales and three of it's own brewshed range plus six keg beers and three craft ciders. And then Oakes Barn serves 6 guest ales.

And GK aren't that bad, their main offerings are a bit bland but their seasonal ales are decent.

Phone NTFC, sack off Oxford City and get them down to BSE  Grin
Good post, restoring confidence in the sleepy Suffolk town...apart from those last two sentences!

GK and good don't collocate...try shockingly awful! 😁

Man phones up club to see if NTFC will play his local team. This annoys stranger on the internet. Unbelievable.

On the positives, I'm gonna phone up Kelvin on my lunch break to see if they'll play my 5aside game one evening.

I did contact NTFC, suggesting Oxford City as an ideal friendly - few of us in Oxford, get on well with their fans and directors...but seems it's Fernie Fields and Brackley again!
Meanwhile, other clubs get tours of Ireland and Scotland amongst other places!  Roll Eyes

Keep on trying, sounds a good idea; don’t be put off by any detractors.

I did, for Cobblers to play my team.  It worked...

Perhaps my friend if you had seen why I was arguing then you'd find it more believable! Coolcat has randomly and unfairly taken issue with me on a few occasions now. I'm really not bothered about us playing Oxford City in a friendly!  Grin

That's brilliant. When was this?

2008 on the German/Nederland pre-season, although my two centre backs didn't thank me for putting them up against Bayo!!

Wasn't there a friendly tour overseas once where a young fan was brought on when we were 11-0 up or something similar?

Tend to sympathise with you on this. Contacted the club about pre-season friendlies suggesting a short, European tour with the focus being on good standard opposition, a fan culture element, ease of transport, with a decent city break potential for fans.

Suggested Hamburg (short flight from Luton) which has a thriving football & fan scene and a couple of other cities in Germany & Holland among others.

To be fair the club said they'd look into it but they came up with that break to Spain under Edinburgh was it? quite remote and devoid of most of the factors I'd asked them to consider.

Then to add insult to injury, Kelvin's club West Ham end up arranging a friendly with Altona, one of the clubs I'd suggested and have links to.

Put in effort to pre-season and you can reward and engage the fans, make relationships with other clubs and attract opposition that will bring good numbers.
