Morgan Roberts and Dean Whaler (both 17 years old) have signed professional contracts.
Roberts until summer 2021 and Whaler until summer 2020.
Good luck to both lads, more home-grown players into the first team squad.

I hope that they don't ship them out in loan right away and keep them in the squad for the first half of the season so they can get some game time in the EFL Trophy.

Hopefully doesn't follow the standard pattern of , loan out to poor Non league Club, a few games warming the bench, then released.

This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England.

I think the length of the contracts would suggest otherwise, although at some stage a loan stint maybe beneficial like with Shaun McWilliams.

Given the complete absence of Laciofano and Lobjoit last season, don't hold much hope of either having an impact anytime soon, but maybe, just maybe...

If they’re good enough they’ll get chances McWilliams, Toney, Jacobs show that. Austin certainly seems keen to bring the youth through, I don’t think he’s the type to cut his nose of by ignoring a player that will help us. Time will tell.
We’ve not had many examples of players that were given contracts only to be never played and released that then became league players, Danny Green being the only one I can think of.

Not sure if they were ever given pro contracts but ... Greg Taylor did at Cambridge I think And the late Richard Butcher went to Diamonds whilst they were in the league, Lincoln and Macclesfield too.

Yep true but if you’re going back as far as Butcher then there are plenty more we could cite that were given plenty of first team chances. There will always be those we let slip but we don’t do too bad in general. Let’s hope Austin is good on his word on creating the links between the first and youth teams.

It's always good to see young boys coming through the ranks and going on and doing well, so hope so and by the looks of things austin will be good at giving them a chance.

I hope that they are both good enough to get their chance as first team players. Imagine a match with these two being left and right midfield with McWilliams in the centre and Iacifano bagging the goals.
One can hope.

I think someone should just take this city of Peterborough and just... just flush it down the f***in' toilet

I think there is a chance we could see them all together in pre-season, at least I certainly hope we do.

This would send a clear message to Academy players and also first team regulars that if you’re good enough then you’re old enough.

Hope Austin gives these young guns a shot. It must be a right downer getting a professional contract then playing for Corby or Mkt Harbourough Reserves.

For goodness sake Doc we are NOT going down you heard it here 1st (I damn well hope that does not come back to haunt me)

I wouldn't think it would be a down-er to go out on loan if you've been awarded a pro contract. It worked for Shaun McWilliams, and in the absence of an U23s, you need a way to bridge the gap to the 1st team. I hope it works for JI as well.
