Decent signing at this level, scored plenty for swindon and yeovil in lg2.

My worry would be, he couldn't get in a poor Doncaster team, also not the pacy forward we need, but hopefully first of a few

Surely this news is 'too good to be true' tho 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Had injury problems last season, that is why he didn't play many games.

He knows league 2, so on paper a good signing.

He did yes, but on retuning from injury did not get much of look in, funny as marquis was hardly setting the world alight

To me it feels a very similar signing to when we got Revell.....you can all decide for yourselves if that is a good thing or not  Grin

I suppose we can't fully judge until we see the blend of signings, would think a player of this type we would look to get some pace around him, either a strike partner or on the wings.

Welcome Andy, hope you get another promotion on your CV!

Similar age as when when re-signed Rico.

It's good to have a proper striker on board and I hope we can provide him with good service.

Having read up a little about the lad, a signing that could literally go either way…pretty much like any signing then!  Grin

He's 32 in August and has been injured a lot recently. On the flip side, he's scored 20 or got close to it on 3 occasions in his career (all in the last 7 seasons), so stats wise you could argue theres a 1 in 3 chance he might bang them in for us on a regular basis. He can also play on the right wing apparently so IF we are to play with 1 up top, he could arguably be one of the two strikers flanking the middle hit man.

One of Donny's highest earners according to a recent article in the Doncaster local press (April 2018) - so on the face of it we are not shopping at pound land which is a positive in itself. If the offer we'd put in wasn't a decent one he'd have bided his time…so given our post Chinese finances then this *may be a positive statement from the board to give it a real go next season.

Welcome aboard Andy!

Is it ok if I write something relatively ambiguous, then only refer back to the bit that is relevant to him either doing well, or not..

Here we go.

Worth a go, as he has shown he knows where the net is at our level.

However, he is injury prone and known to drift in and out of form.

Looks like a good signing on paper.

Putting aside the odd decent season, his inconsistency is what stands out most.

Not a bad signing for a start.

For an initial signing. It does show a bit of a lack of ambition.

And finally........... I can see where DA is going with this signing. A combination of experience and goals at our level.

How does this demonstrate a business model based on sustainability and grown.. E.g. Where me exec boxes.

I'll only be really happy with this signing if he brings the Bear as his own, personal mascot.

Worryingly, looks like KVV (ok, has a beard!). Also, coming in from the East Ridings/South Yorkshire area. Also, injured more often than not!  Shocked Wink

Nice to see the Cobblers still treading the same old road. Signing 32 year old forwards is the Clubs preferred way forward.

I think I agree with the consensus - a half decent signing if he’s fully fit but not one to set the pulse racing - as others have said above it now depends on who else we bring in alongside/around him preferably focusing on pace.

I remember when we were relegated back to league two, then signed Steve Guinan.

Just how many younger strikers have we signed since the last 32 year old? I cannot be bothered to look it up. Even Dean Bowditch wasnt 32, I think.

Not counting loan signings..

Kevin Van Veen - 26  Grin Grin
Billy Waters - 22 (when we signed him, now 23)

Dean Bowditch scored twice in his last game for Stevenage, end of March. Did he get injured?
