I am not saying that it does but that CDNL was land previously held by NTFC and it must have a significant redevelopment value. I know there are issues of contamination but I also know that some remedial work has been carried out on the land. How the Council ever allowed this land to leave the club's ownership and be owned by the Cardozas I do not know. Now CDNL and with it the land is under the control of Bower and Thomas. The only check on it is are the rights of NBC as lessor and as the local planning authority. The performance of the Council over many years does not instil any belief or confidence that they will use their powers for the long term benefit of the football club or the people of Northampton. This land may represent a once in a lifetime opportunity for NTFC to have an income stream from other non-football activities on that land once it is developed.
What comes to mind is what happened at Oxford where Kassam owned the stadium and the surrounding land. I think Kassam still owns the stadium and all these years later no stand has been constructed at the "away" end. The surrounding restaurants and other outlets are all owned by Kassam and the football club gets nothing. This is a very bad precedent for us which we must strive to avoid but it is, how shall I put it, rather close to home.
