I guess it's money in the bank.

My thoughts are, I don't like this sort of thing. I guess it's just a name though.

One way of looking at it.

It'll always be sixfields to me and the county ground before that. I'm an old git though.

https://www.ntfc.co.uk/news/2018/may/stadium_partnership/

“Northampton Town have agreed a stadium naming rights partnership with Northampton based company PTS which will see Sixfields Stadium renamed the PTS Academy Stadium for 5 years from June 1st.”

Can't say that I am happy about the name, but seemingly everyone else is doing it and it will put some money in the coffers.

As mentioned previously, everyone will still call it Sixfields.

These things are pretty common in football now. As stated below everyone will still call it Sixfields but if its extra money for the club to invest in the squad etc then its fine with me.

Uninspiring sponsors for a pathetic "stadium" (although that is stretching the term to it's absolute limit.)

About what you would expect, sell what you have for what you can get. Could easily have been the Duston village hall stadium if they had promised a tenner. If only they knew!

But you can't name the stadium, its council property and has a gypsies curse on it😂😂

Now what else have I suggested?
Advanced corperate Box sales, to finance the east stand and  3 and 5 year advanced season ticket sales at frozen prices  to get us some extra capacity in a terrace built up behind the south stand😉

Don't like this and certainly don't approve this decision. It will always be Sixfields Stadium to me and that what I will call it. Anyways wasn't sixfields chosen by the good people of Northamptonshire in the first place!

It is money in thw bank, but at what cost.

'The Post Traumatic Stress Academy Stadium.' Presumably it's been named in memory of last season. Wink

If it's going to happen it might as well be to raise the profile of a local business. Like others have said, we'll all still call it Sixfields, it'll just be known as the PTS in media etc.

"We are eager for the brand to become more recognisable across Northampton"

Hardly a difficult objective. Well done. anyway.

Everyone will still call it Sixfields but if PTS are happy to chuck money our way for the privilege then good luck to them. I'll certainly still be heading to Sixfields every other Saturday though!

Surprised it's taken this long. Additional income we didn't have last season... What's not to like?

On the one hand no one has heard of PTS and this sponsorship is probably not going to change that on a nationwide basis - however the media coverage is actually not insignificant and is typically mentioned many times during match updates and reports.

No disrespect to PTS but I think the response may have been more positive (& more money in the coffers) had it been a household name like the Carlsberg Arena - personally I think Sixfields is a very ordinary and uninspiring name so I don't care about a name change.

Strange timing. Why would you announce such a deal just after saying the club might be put up for sale? What if new owners aren't happy with the length and terms of the deal?

Maybe big business household names don't need a third/fourth division stadium to improve their nationwide exposure...
