What is the point of an assistant manager, judging by the changes after DA took over he had no say in tactics, team selection or anything else apparently and not the first by far over a number of years to say that his views were ignored by the manager
Obviously. You appoint an assistant to assist you, not manage the team. I expect my assistant at work to organise my meetings, take notes, general day to day tasks etc... It's exactly the same in football.

I don’t think sense of humour and banter are the primary qualities that I’m looking for in a coach/assistant manager.
Well said Irchy.

But surely sense of humour and banter are essential qualities required by anyone supporting the team. And therefore I can't see it doing any harm if these qualities are shared by some of the management team.

That’s why I said they’re not the primary qualities I’m looking for - obviously a mixture of good cop bad cop is essential but I’m looking for tactical assistance and his defensive insights before anything else.

Pleased with this appointment, the defence was awful last season. HOPEFULLY we'll be a lot more organised at the back this season. Welcome Andy.
I agree with your comments on our defence last season. You cant win anything without a good defence. COME ON COBBLERS!

We STILL haven't conceded a goal since he's been here. Exciting times ahead.

Well said Irchy.
Andy Todd does not have a strong sense of humour.

I’m not sure a manager’s assistant is the same as a PA. I can’t quite see Todd studiously taking notes while Austin talks, more like glaring on his behalf.

yeah I know. Point I was making is you don't have an assistant making decisions ahead of the manager.
