Cobblers defender Joe Bunney has been sent out on a season-long loan to Blackpool, the club have announced.

Looks as if Dean Austin is not a fan of Bunney, unlike his predecessor!

Good riddance. To be fair to him, he might be ok if pushed further up the field but was an absolute liability defensively. If JFH hadn't persisted with him for so long at left back when opposing teams were routinely focusing all their efforts down that flank to target him we might not have gone down.

More JFH's fault than his, I'll grant you, but he was still rubbish at left back!

So we are likely to get him off the wage bill for a year and possibly a loan fee. All good so far.

Not good enough to be in our third division side but potentially ok for a second division side?

Trust you Deano and good luck Joe.

Great to see DA dealing with the oversized squad he's been left with nice and early...

Bunny had the singuar worst performance I can ever remember as a Cobblers player last season (can't remember who is was against as he had so many poor games) but he really did look like a competion winner out there. Hopefully, there is an option to make the move permanent at some point too.

Hopefully, news on Kasim, Bowditch & Coddington to follow...hopefully, not O'Donnell (unless we get a decent fee for him) as for the great KVV who knows what will happen...

Possibly, although it could work the other way depending on how much he was on. They could be paying a percentage of his wages whilst we pick up the rest. Much more likely this way otherwise we’d have let him go for nothing wouldn’t we??

Anyone reading from Blackpool thinking you have got a player....
You haven’t . He is utter pants and every division one team knows it because they target him .

Who knows. But to let him go for nothing is never really nothing. Paying up a contract compared to running it down whilst someone hopefully picks up the tab in the meantime. Either way.

Some harsh comments here.

As a left back, useless. A complete liability. As a wing back…could well be very decent. He played that role v Shrewsbury, was man of the match.

Austin it appears prefers a back 4 so the only possible starting position he could have realistically challenged for was left midfield. He'd have been alright in that position, but not ideal. The kids young, so he probably wants to try and fully convert himself as a wingback like he was at Rochdale. I suspect thats Blackpools plans for him, if not then they haven't scouted him very well!  Grin

Austin also showed in his cameo last season that he doesn't like players whose heads go down. Rightly or wrong (and he was hung out to dry by JFH), the kid does have an unhealthy reliance on confidence. Thats putting it nicely. In other words, he goes into hiding if he's having a bad game! He needs to cut that out and quick, otherwise he won't be a professional footballer in 2 years time. I hope he does alright, seemed a nice enough lad.

Its for that reason why Im hoping VV is gone asap. We need battling players, not ones who start crying if the fans have a go at them!

Left back = poor
Left wing = fair/decent

Good luck Joe.

First thing he needs to do is learn to tackle. When he does he may have a future somewhere.

You don’t often see a player/assistant manager exchange - I wonder who will come out on the better side of the deal.

Not in the Blackpool squad today. He might as well come back if they aren't playing him.
