Richard O'Donnell has activated a relegation release clause in his contract and moved to League One Bradford City, the club have announced.
A real shame, a very good goalkeeper and it will be hard to find someone of his quality as a replacement for the coming season.

Let’s just pray that we are going to look to replace him - we’ve still got 3 on our books. I’d rather give goff or coddington a chance than Cornell.

Feared as much...well this will show the extent of our ambition....if they play Cornell as No.1 ...then we have a major handicap. Was re-scheduling things around to make a few friendlies....well now God Help Us.

Work has already been going on because they knew O'Donnell was leaving shortly after the end of last season.

Haven't seen that - that's a relief, perhaps there's something to the Sam walker rumour.

It's on the article on the club's website reporting O'Donnell's departure.

My guess would be van Veen, possibly Turnbull.

I think you might be right as Austin says to get them to join in January they had to put clauses in the contracts that they could go if we went down. Tbh if either of van veen or turnbull don't want to be here then send them on there way. At least Austin has said they are going to be adding another keeper and he has one in mind. I guess Goff will be loaned out again and Coddington will either be loaned or sent on his way

No surprise but words come cheap don’t they ROD ? What was it you said at the end of the season again ? Reference the other players that want to go - give an ultimatum . Commit or don’t bother turning up to training and F*** off . Your choice . Simple

This is largely down to JFH. It cost us money to cancel Ingram's contract so JFH could bring in an inferior replacement. The idea was to free up a loan signing but we saw how that worked out. I hope Turnbull's the other player. He can go if anyone wants him.
I hope our owners look at their part in this. With the best intentions, they made an enormous mistake sanctioning signing players, where a transfer fee is paid, for them to walk away for free a few months later. I accept this was done for the right reasons but a club like ours needs firm guidelines in how it manages its finances and expenditure.

Got to agree with this, Austin doesn't strike me as a stupid person - if there are others like ROD who have a RRC and told him they wanted to leave after the last game of last season then why are we letting them train with us - I'm thinking particularly of turnbull and van veen who have both been seen in pre season training photos. If they want to go and we're not going to get anything for them then why are they training with us - it's not like they're assets that it is in our best interests to keep fit? Makes me wonder if there are clauses but not all are like ROD's.

I'm hoping Van Veen will go full O'Toole/Langmead and revitalise himself completely, but I am always optimistic at the start of a season.
