O'Donnell went to Bradford, not Mansfield.

Fair review I would say - 10th is about as high as I think we will finish at this stage.

(Wind forwards to 44m 30s or thereabouts for the NTFC bit folks).

We had a talented squad last season and we were gash.
This is more about Austin and how he manages but so far so good. I predict a strong midtable finish.

Have to disagree with you as pre season games have gone better so far. Seeing how Crooks and McW played tonight would say much higher than mid table for me. Sorry Gordon!

It's obvious we're gonna make the top three, isn't it?

Given that we presumably have one of the highest budgets in this division and we've kept the bulk of the squad that a lot of people seem to think should have been good enough on paper to stay up comfortably last season...surely it has to be playoffs minimum?

Agree. This squad should have no problems finishing in the top 7. Where in that top 7 and whether the season will end in promotion it's too early to predict. I think Lincoln will be challenging for automatic as they have strengthened well and may well grab one of those places this year. Notts County may make the play-offs again. Bury and MK should be in and around the play-offs, but wouldn't surprise me if neither got promoted.

Last year Coventry looked a cut above the other play-off teams. Even Luton didn't look that good IMO, not a great deal of pace, a strong but workmanlike League 2 strike partnership and an experienced head in defence. This Cobblers squad is at least as good as theirs last season.

I do think there is a significant drop in quality in this league, and the class of certain players: Crooks, O'Toole, Facey, Powell, McWilliams etc. will shine through.

Can't remember it being said we have one of the biggest budgets in this league. It was said we have a bigger budget in this league compared to the last time we were in League 2.
