So how does this work? The Hammers are likely to get a new stadium after the disaster that will be the olympics. So basically they get a new stadium funded by you lot (me excluded) for a pittance in exchange for hosting a few other bits and pieces. Sound familiar? One difference will be that they will be alowed to redevelope and improve the facility because the council down there is not so far up its' own a***.

The stadium will hold 60,000. It's going to be a graveyard, especially with that idiotic running track around the pitch, they should have given it to Tottenham.

The only long-term solution for the olympic stadium was to have a premier league football team playing there. I can't believe this was dismissed at the design stage which has caused a lot of problems which we're now seeing.
I'd prefer the track to stay but it won't be the best ground to watch football at. I've been to olympic stadiums in Barcelona, Munich & Berlin which have still have the track but yet still hosted/ host football matches.

You only have to have been at the Don Valley Stadium to watch us play Rotherham to know that an athletics track and a football pitch don't go....

The old Wembley as well. I only stood/sat behind the goal on two occasions , all other times I stood/sat down the sides because of the view from behind the goal.

Well iam glad that West Ham have got the ground & not Spurs who would have been moving out of their own Borough in to a rivals & then would have knocked the thing down now that would have been a waste of money at least West Ham are going to keep it use what it was built for,the stadium has'nt been funded just by the tax payers but allso the lottery it is no difference what our own local council did for us in 1994 with Sixfields allso Leyton Orient were offered the chance to use the stadium but turned it down.1 last point why do think the olympics will be a disaster?

West ham should have followed the spurs plan as its clearly must better for the tax payer and for the whole "legacy" crap.

'The whole "legacy" crap' was a big part of us being awarded the games to begin with. Dont think either option is/was viable. Spurs knocking the place down and making it purpose built for football, plus moving from one part of London to another was never going to work, and i dont think an athletics track around the pitch, plus the extra events the pitch has to cater for, is a good idea either

If they wanted a legacy they should have built the stadium with that in mind. Spurs offer the only viable legacy, a 20000ish new stadium in Crystal Palace. It's ridiculous that the tax payer will have to pay for the up keep of a 60000 seater stadium that will host a few athletics events a few times a year with attendances of a few thousand. With the Spurs plan, less of the stadium would have been knocked down than originally planned, and Crystal Palace would have a much more suitable and cheaper to maintain athletics stadium.

so better for a stadium that cost the tax payer over 500 million to be knocked down then is it? West Ham wont have the stadium for free they will have to pay rent on it so it wont cost the tax payer as much

The stadium was always planned to be knocked down. Spurs plan doesn't knock down a 500 million pound stadium, they have said they would knock down approximately 80 million pounds worth and then build on top of what's there. The original plan was to knock down more than that.

West Ham are looking at adding retractable seats to cover the running track allso the stadium will be used by Essex County Cricket club for Twenty20 games.the tax payer wont have to pay a penny towards the stadium as the money will come from the lottery & a loan from the local council

The ground will hold 60,000, West Ham can't even fill Upton Park, capacity 35,647. It'll be like a morgue.

The loan isn't coming from the council, the council and west ham are the ones being loaned the money from the treasury

Not if they start charging £10 a ticket like they've been insinuating they're going to.

Are you sure about this? I've been every game this season, and barring a few in the top corners of upper tiers and segregation it's been pretty much full. Would you pay £68 to sit in the upper Row Z when you're on a s*** run of not winning games. Average attendance-33444 Capacity-35647 Overall percentage-93.8% That's with an average ticket price of £47 in a relegation battle. The OS tickets would be half this. Most of us don't even want ther OS, but I'm sick of this "empty stadium" bollocks.
