Thought Cam did well tbf. Williams didn't have much to do but looks a good prospect. Difficult to say though as Man Utd offered so little threat.

Does anyone else think this pre season has been a bit odd? We’ve played a few lower non league clubs, hull’s under 23’s, a very weak Barnet and an effectively under 18 Manchester Utd.

This. Not sure we've been properly tested defensively all pre-season. Still, we've played some good football and the fitness seems to be there which is the most important thing.

it has been quite weak but wining games is important and improving morale after last season was important.
Also in the past (last season) we have lost to the lower ranked teams so can be a tougher test in some ways

If you saw any of last aeasons friendlies, R&D and Kettering not to mention the hammering from Brackley then the performances have been markedly better this season. Apart from Brackley the oppo have been similar.

Was pretty boring for me, didn't really enjoy that much at all. Queuing up to get in the car park, queuing up to get in the ground and then sitting in front of a whole row of Man U fans going on about how some od the kids were on the FIFA 18 game and it was "surreal".  Roll Eyes

Everyone is right to be naming Camron McWilliams MOM, thought Jay Williams looked quite solid as well. Waters worked hard even when shifted out wide, scored another goal so I fail to see how we can not keep hold of him now. Especially with all our favourites leaving....

Van Veen ran about and worked a thousand times harder than usual, but didn't stand out as much as I thought he would against a very young Utd team. Did get an assist and a goal though, plus a much better attitude. Hoping for big things!

JJ didn't look on the ball apart from a couple of good tackles and at time his passing was awful. Foley didn't seem to offer much in the middle either.

Turnbull had a good game at left back, Barnett was solid and enjoyed his LONG LONG forward balls. I thought Powell was okay in patches and playing Bowditch out wide didn't really work.

Will do our fitness some good, more game time and experience for the promising youngsters, confidence booster for Waters but that is about it. Hope we are up to speed when the season starts.

McWilliams was very assured and fit in just as Whaler did on Tuesday night. Real promise there, as there was from Williams/Goff. Roberts looked lively off the bench as well and even Michael Harding looks to have a bit of a presence about him in his very brief cameo.

Waters is making it very difficult for Austin to not play him against Lincoln and I think it's vital that we now keep him. I know it's not his favoured position out wide but he could be an answer down the flanks. Plus he has a natural ability in front of goal.

Even KvV showed more today than he has done for months, more so in the second half, and hopefully he kicks on now.

Waters... has a natural ability in front of goal.

Have to disagree there- he scored 2 goals in 41 appearances last season, and nearly half of those appearances were in League Two! I like him as a player but he's hardly prolific.

Encouraging result but the reality is that performing against a youth age group side is a completely different kettle of chips to playing against men in league 2.

It will be interesting to compare these to the Chelsea youngsters coming up

Any update on when we'll be playing this fixture?

It’s next Tuesday isn’t it? Austin said those that don’t play against Lincoln will get game time.

I
A           We MUST be strong in defence as well as strong when going forward. if ARSENAL COULD HAVE DEFENDED WELL UNDER WENGER THE WOULD HAVE DONE SO MUCH BETTER. THEY MAY WELL HAVE WON THE PREMIER LEAGUE
