I can't really believe this thread exists!
Yesterday's performance, aside from the finishing, was pretty damn good and unrecognisable from anything JFH served up. It's the first game of the season and our opponents are strongly fancied to go up automatically.
On Bowditch, am I alone in thinking he looked pretty useful when he came on? Good movement and a couple of incisive passes into the box that Bridge had been failing to make all match.

No, you are not alone in that view. I've always thought he's a decent player. We have others who can do the same job but if he is to be given a chance I think he needs to play behind the striker. The other point about Saturday being better than what we saw last season. Yes it was, but then it should be. We are in a lower division with largely the same players and Lincoln were poor compared to most teams we faced under JFH/JE. It's early days.

Agreed. Not a Bowditch fan myself, but I thought he looked useful when he came on. Team performance was okay - just lacked that killer instinct

No totally agree. I think I said before I thought he made a real difference when he came on. He put us back on the front foot.

Yes. Agreed. But it's also ridiculously early days for people to be jumping all over the manager. Let's give the bloke a chance FFS!

If Bowditch plays, van Veen needs to as well IMO. Two players (along with Crooks) who are likely to be on the same wavelength. Whether you can accommodate all three in L2 is debatable?

This Bridge situation might be telling. The last 3 blokes had a passion for proving the supporters wrong. If Bridges performances don’t improve and he keeps throwing him in, we’ll know someone forgot to break the mould? Got to give the blokes a chance though (that’s plural).

Yes, think there is a lot of prejudice being shown, whereas what's needed is a bit of pride!

He was as inept at his job Vs Lincoln as his predecessors were last season, he made blindingly obvious mistakes. Lets see if he has any clue next week.
No then.

Until you did. Austin needs to get a grip and fast. Listening to the nervous way he speaks in the post game interview personally I don't trust him. Quite honestly I can't understand the relentless and unjustified Cornell bashing by some on here and the way Austin gets away with putting a side out with no decent set piece taker and continues on playing unfit players out of position and leaving players on the park who are having by all accounts a dreadful game. The only improvement this week was not playing Bridge and playing van Veen. Cameron McWilliams looks a far better player than Bridge. Austin did say he would give youth a chance did he not?

Give it up ... Austin has 2 years of Page, JED and JFHWs mess to clean up Given the time he will sort us out, of course he will make mistakes along the way but Wilder wasnt perfect and even in the Champo season we goy off to a very slow start .... and Wilder had his own team and 1 1/2 years under hos belt

I hope you are right but see nothing at the moment to suggest he will. I wish for a start he would look at the person he is speaking to in interviews instead of the ground or scratching his nose for a start, body language is important. He needs to breathe some confidence in to the team but appears to have little himself.

Maybe he isn't comfortable doing interviews, does this make him a bad manager ...... Remember Gary Johnson was a "showman" in-front of the mic, but in reality he was a clown.

Maybe he can get help to improve this part of is job. How he comes across when communicating is important on how he is perceived by others including his players or potential players.

Quite telling that he came over at the end of the game yesterday after the players and made a "keep your heads up" gesture to the travelling fans.
