So did you go red and look at the floor when he shook your hand? Just the 260 mile round then?

Jesus, here we go again. When will the penny drop? Give him a chance, I’ve been very impressed so far.

really hope not. Rookie manager, trying to get his ideas across and the team playing a different way, clearly going to take time. Would like to see him move away from 442 though, not working, particularly with McWilliams missing.

its a results based business, but if you are not getting the results then try and put in a performance.

Fingers crossed our moronic fan base don't get on his back just yet... But what have you been impressed with? We're looking like a team that have never played together before.

I made the decision after last season's complete shambles to wait until the perennial losers start doing something before I watch again.
It's quite odd to base my 'opinions' on what other people say but I really haven't read much to make me think we are going to have an exciting season.

Not sure it was a “fantastic display “ or that we were the better side. I think there is a lot of work to be done.

My biggest concern is that there is an air of apathy hovering around the club - a lot of it is a fallout from the relegation last season but it doesn’t help that the stadium is stuck in limbo, we’re (I assume) still up for sale, communication from our chairman has now reduced to once in a blue moon and Austin has been lumbered with an expensive, bloated and lopsided squad (no matter how much he says that he is happy he must realise we are unbalanced). Allied to all this the little things that make a big difference particularly in league two aren’t working at the moment - the set pieces, substitutions etc. I really hope that we get up and running on Saturday but it isn’t going to be easy - a local derby with big away following and a side that beat the championship favourites last week (having said that they got tonked last night but I don’t know if they made a lot of changes).

I think a lot of our fans are very negative due to the last 2 seasons, Dean Austin said his vision is to build something and I would guess thats going to take 3 or 4 seasons, I would like to think we give him this season at least, I am sick to death of changing Managers, even though the last 3 have been poor. I like what Austin has to say and given time I think he can maybe build something, his attitude seems right and if we start seeing the kids come through over the next couple of seasons then I would be happy. I would take mid table this season for a team thats been through the s*** we have since Wilder left then hopefully we can build on that to get the club growing and moving up the leagues. You never know it might even fall in with some redevelopment if we are really lucky!

Agreed....a big air of apathy!! Teamwise....most of the squad is the same, and the hangover sees us on a run of just 2 wins in 17 games. Off the pitch its all gone quiet again. In a nutshell, nothing much is happening!! We don't do boring seasons, but it looks like this is going to be one.

Calm down, folks, we're three games in!
Take into account the fixtures so far for a second -
Lincoln: experienced, promotion contenders for sure, manager who knows what he's doing, quality all over the park. They had one real chance and scored from it and better finishing would have won it for it let alone earned a point.
Carlisle: Decent enough point away from home.
Wycombe: League One side and a draw after 90 mins after recovering from a penalty miss to get back into the tie.
Austin is still learning the ropes and we have to give him time to learn how to be a manager. It will be tough at times with a few results in a row probably going against him but how else will he learn? Very harsh to be jumping on his back at this stage IMO. Let him find an identity for the club - it might mean a mid-table finish but if we can start enjoying going to games again then it's step one of a decent plan.
