Powell can apparently play both wings, so when fit, do you think Facey could play on the right wing? He appears to be a defender that can play right wingback instead of just right back and seems good going forward. Maybe that's the way we balance it out.
Yup I think Powell will play left side, probably with Hoskins right. If everyone was fit I wouldn’t be adverse to Crooks taking one of the wide midfield roles but being given a bit of a license to roam, that’s where I think he’s had his best games for us. That way we have 1 wide player to stretch the pitch, hug the line and one adding an extra body centrally and hopefully being hard to pick up. I wouldn’t play Facey wide personally, I don’t see him as someone who beats a man or is particularly attack minded. He did ok at wing back but I think he made less of an attacking impression than Bunney, his goal aside of course.

Crooks proved at Walsall, that he he can play out wide, and had their full back in his pocket. The only problem with this, is that, with Powell on the other side, the keepers distribution inevitably was aimed towards Crooks, as Powell absolutely cannot/will not head a ball. This is predictable game play, which can very quickly be detected by the opposition. And we all know that Hoskins tries his hardest, but hes not going to beat a taller dude in the air. We need a proper wide man as a matter of some urgency. Someone that can accept the ball to his head, or feet, beat his man, and whip in a cross. Then you might see KVV show his true colours. IMO Crooks is better in the centre of the park. Play people in their correct position, and you may get results.

I think you just need a couple of targets for standard keeper distribution, Crooks wide would be one like you, JJOT and Williams would be the other two, the three of them just need to clever with their positioning. Powell is fine for quick ball to chest / feet or into space and we can also mix it by going shorter. Don’t disagree with you last sentence but I think the problem we’ve had for a couple of years is that our best players simply don’t fit into a logical formation. Either the manager has to make a brave call and leave one out or someone plays out of position. This year I would think nearly everyone would want JJOT, Crooks and McWilliams but I also think Williams and Morais would be in. 3 midfielders and 2 strikers would say 532 but as with when JED tried it we don’t really have wing backs. It’s going to take a while to get this squad balanced in the meantime something will be a compromise

Stretch the pitch...I think it's already the largest in the EFL!

What's heading the ball got to do with it? Powell is a perfectly good wide player.

You clearly do not get to many games, nor have seen how many times Powell has pulled away from the headed opportunity. If it is aimed at his head, and he ducks out, then it becomes a problem. I am sure that can appreciate that.

So you're suggesting to counter his bad heading, we need someone else who's bad at heading on the opposite flank?

I've been to the odd game now and then but I've never noticed Powell pull away from a heading opportunity. Mind you I don't think I've ever spotted a player pulling out from such an opportunity. I do remember an eight year old kid crying because heading the ball hurt him, does that count?

Daniel Powell will not head a ball. Anybody who observes the the team on on a regular basis, will confirm this. Ask anybody who attends on a constant basis, and they will confirm.

He provided the headed assist at Charlton, you haven't paid attention...
