It's Checkatrade Trophy time again. The first of three games start on Tuesday night. Wycombe are first up with games against Oxford and Fulham u21s to follow.

I'm going with one of my lads, so who else will be attending? I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but a chance for some early revenge for our Carabao Cup defeat to the same opposition in August.

Shame DA didn't feel this way about the Carabao the other week.

Well it was a choice between attending this match or watching VHS quality recordings on YouTube of Stars in their eyes hosted by Matthew Kelly.

Easy Choice....Hello Matthew.

This tournament is testament to what you get when you have people who never followed a football team or even as much paid to watch a game!
The old format wasn't perfect but games were meaningful and kept the intrest building as teams progressed, now its just a few ressies game that has a wembley final.
What would I do to sex it up? Dump the U21s immediately and Re name it checkatrade anglo scottish cup, inviting all 48 league 1 and 2 clubs and 20 from the two top scottish leagues, including just those teams that are not involved with European competitions, it would be a
straight knock out competition played over 2 legs as Europa cup with away goals rule  but no extra time straight to pens.
The anticipation of the draw woukd match the fa cup draw,, a chance to visit and host teams from Dundee Edinburgh Glasgow etc etc..
But no.. we get the most mundane uninteresting pile of s***e competion courtesy of a non football person.

Won’t ask you why but suggest it is strange comment to make when you can easily record said concert. You would do better just to say ‘not going’ as you did for away games!

The introduction of the U21 Prem teams spoils it and I haven't been since. However I am tempted now because of the chance to see some of our squad players/youngsters. We have a good large squad and could actually go far in this comp this season.

There is a difference between this and away games. If I could go to away games at the moment I would, this on the other hand I would not. I am sorry that my lighthearted attempt  at cheering a few people (who appear to need it) went where a lot of other things do. I will let you guess where Smiley

I used to enjoy this competition back in the days when it was the LDV or whatever. It was fun watching two teams who didn't really care if they lost playing open football, often spurred on by a number of fringe players giving their all with a point to prove. The introduction of Prem B teams has devalued the competition to such an extent that I now don't go and pay less attention to the result than I do to the under 18 matches on a Saturday morning.

Bin it!

Don’t get all this negativity. Chance of winning League cup none, chance of winning FA Cup none. This cup does offer us a chance. Apparently winning can become a habit so let’s start winning!

Heartwarming that the B-team boycott is one of the few things that most fans have stuck together on.

The great Half Man Half Biscuit said it best.

I find it quite remarkable that some who wish to ignore the game write huge posts to justify not going!

Will be boycotting these games again, but admit it would be nice to see some of our fringe players getting game time.

Think the rule is now four players from your previous starting eleven or the next starting eleven, so should be easier to change things round. Game time for JJ would be a good ideas if he is fit, but unsure exactly how bad his injury is.

              Ward

Odoffin Ash Barnett Turnbull

   Powell Crooks JJ Bridge

          Williams
                     Waters

Three here that started on Saturday (Ash, Crooks, Bridge) and there is a possibility that Waters would start the next game in front of Williams if he does well here. Wish we could change the whole eleven as I would love to see Whaler and Roberts get some more opportunities.

I'd like to see Autin have another look at the shape we ended the game on Saturday with, I think that could be a good way forward for us. If everyone is fit I would go;

Ward

Odoffin Barnett Pierre Turnbull

Foley

Crooks JJOT

Waters              Bridge

Williams

Got the required 4 that started last game in there, gives game time to some that need it and gives Bridge an opportunity to build some momentum after a decent performance at the weekend. I'd give McWilliams half hour for Foley or Crooks if he is ready.
