Bad memories of Burslum! We were winning there 2-1 going into injury time, taking the pee out of their fans as they skulked off, and in true Cobblers fashion we contrived to let two goals in and hand them a 3-2 win. How the departing Vale fans laughed at us.....

Got a photo of us, courtesy of the Chron,  celebrating as we scored in something like the 89th minute as we went 2-1 up, and the Vale fans started pouring out .... The rest is history.

Remember it well, dancing in the aisle after going 2-1 up, by the time I got back to my seat we were 3-2 down. Horrible experience.

Which year was that ?

April 2003, Laurie Dudfield put us 2-1 up in the 89th minute, but then Clarke and Littlejohn won it for Vale.

When they scored the winner I kicked the seat in front of me so hard I smashed the back off it!

We finished bottom of league 1 that year and were of course relegated

Seem to remember our last visit to Burslem brought a 3-1 win...and a spot of rain!  Cool
My last visit was 2-2 under Boothroyd with Lee Collins OG for their equaliser in the final minute

The fact that nobody has proposed a possible starting yet is very interesting. Are we as lost as the rest of the Circus?

             Cornell
Facey - Williams - Barnett - Turnbull
      Mcwilliams - Foley
Hoskins    Crooks (FR)        Waters
                   VV

or

                  Cornell
Facey - Williams - Barnett - Turnbull
                  O'Toole
           Crooks - Foley
Hoskins                           Waters
                      VV

Its imperative that Crooks is given license to look for the ball further up the pitch, Hoskins should also be encouraged to look for interplay in and around the box rather than crossing from the by line.

Why do you insist on playing young Williams as a centre back  - he did not look quite ready for the role v Wycombe. He is a promising young player but to throw him in prematurely seems a bit impetuous. Play him as a sub perhaps or in the non league games?

Mine was in around 94 on a Tuesday night for a Leyland DAF (or similar) fixture. The only thing I remember was one of our former youngsters who’s name escapes me was playing at full back for them, oh and I think we lost? Seem to remember there was a surprisingly good turn out from us lot considering?

I've never actually seen us lose at Vale Park. Would bloody love that run to continue.

Planning on drinking in Stoke before heading to Burslem. Despite the place being a bit of a dump, the Bulls Head is a really good pub which welcomes away pubs so shall be heading there. Also planning to visit the Post Office Vaults.

I quite like Burslem - it’s like a time machine turning the clock back
