amazed at how bad that list is when you look at it - also amazed that anyone can say more than 10 of those are / were good signings

I reckon Andy Melville has logged on as 3 different users? None of our last 4 managers would list more that 10 as good if they were to be honest. If they do they would be worse than I thought?

The majority were all good or decent signings, it was when they started playing for us that they have now been considered not so much...

PERMANENT Philips Eardley Matt Taylor O'Donnell Ash Taylor Pierre Facey Foley Crooks Van Veen LOANS Luke Williams Michael Smith Grimes Long Ingram CAN STILL COME GOOD Andy Williams Morias I thought the recruitment while Page was in charge was absolutely criminal. I'd rather the current players than McCourt, Beautyman, Sanoupe, Revell, Hooper, Anderson, Zakauni, Wylde, Cornell, Hanley, Gorre and Nyatanga. 12 players who ranged from piss-poor to 'passable'. During his tenure only Matt Taylor and Eardley were decent acquisitions and even Matt Taylor's legs had gone.

And yet with each signing people came on here to tell us how good they are.

I went for 11 from the list.
How many of those that have been let go or left would you have back?

Maybe DC, but they should only be rated on how they performed for us for the purposes of this exercise. At least that was the intention.

I note that Andy Melvilles Mum has now voted as well. I should point out that the poll is closed to employees of the club and their family members. Sorry for not stating that at the start.

Ian Atkins has just been released as head of European scouting at Aston Villa - ideal to be new Head of Recruitment 🙂

I think we should introduce a Director of Football role who is solely responsible for player recruitment.
Preferably not Andy Melville

Graham Carr, Theo Foley, Russ Abbot? Yes, a Director of Football role is what we need...solely responsible for recruitment, leaving the manager to simply wave his arms around in the technical area and provide excuses in the post match press conferences!
