“I will be looking at other options for training grounds, we’ll have another visit to the complex at Moulton, and it is a slow and steady process finding out about the environment we are working in.”

Don't understand the logic of this unless we are going to buy a training ground. At Moulton, the first team training pitches are excellent. There is an expensive rehab centre which the club has access to, a gym and lunch is laid on as well. Remember Boothroyd messing with this set up to little effect. Of course I will be delighted if we buy our own training facilities but I'm not holding my breath. This sounds like we are trying to manoeuvre a better deal with Moulton.

I wouldn't read too much into it - seems a light hearted commentary on getting o know the setup.

Are the pitches excellent though? The only ones that can say that or not are the manager and players. It's good that Curle is looking to make a few changes.

Much more likely he's looking for an alternative ping pong parlour.
I've heard he's already looking to relocate to an out of town site.
Coffee's cheaper as well.

He doesn’t like the lack of privacy on both the field and offices .
Maybe he needs to be reminded of where we were a few seasons ago

I tend to agree, Boot and Shoe. It's not like he's managed at Prem level where the facilities are on a completely different level.

The first team pitches are excellent. Looked after by the club's groundsmen rather than anyone from Moulton. It is also open so easy for anyone to see how good these are.

Security maybe an issue?

First line of the article:

'The Checkatrade Trophy may not be a competition at the top of any manager’s list if priorities...'

later on:

'Curle is still very much at thge discovery stage...'

Do these professional journalists even re-read their words before publishing? I mean the second one would fail a spell check FFS!

He seems to have made a very quick decision considering he trained there for the first time on Monday. If it is his decision.

If only the club had use of a facility nearer to Sixfields......somewhere next door would be ideal....... Wink

Seriously though.....even the Chairman talked up the facilities at Moulton as being pretty much second to none. Surprising that a new manager who has been here a week seemingly thinks otherwise...and is willing to go public with it.

Honestly can't understand some of our fans obsession with owning a training ground. It's a massive outlay, along with all of the other costs that go with it, and would be the first thing sold when the buckets next make an appearance. If you can rent a first class facility then this way, at our level, must just make so much more sense.

Cant they just train at the (PTS) Sixfields Stadium... there is a massive grass pitch to train on and there are stairs to run up and down.  why we need anything else is OOT in this division..................................................

Not sure that using the pitch all week throughout the winter will do much good to it

I remember pre season on Abby Park. It wasnt that long ago either.
Everybody jogging, apart from Bayo, who was on a mountain bike. It was quite amusing, watching a man of his size, trying to master the art (and gears), and attempting to keep up with the others.  Grin

It’s a strange comment to make a week into the job .’
There is no office space there and the public has complete access to training .
There’s always the Saints again ......
