Credit to the players and manager - we stepped up in the second half and pulled this round .
The first half was terrible and it wasn’t entirely down to the wind . We could not hold the ball or string two passes together as players kept attempting Hollywood balls .
In the second half we worked harder and pressed much better .
Van Veen made all the difference when he came on and never gave up on anything . Surely he has to start now .
We deserved it in the end and let’s hope this springboards us on .

What a difference the wind makes! Seems we did a decent job in the first half in holding them to one.

Second half we totally pinned them in and got our reward.

Loved the mini pitch invasion.  Grin

Hoarse from shouting at the s*** lino and ref though!

Forest Green deserved nothing. Time wasting, rolling around the floor and Cooper was embarrassing. I would have been very angry if we hadn't won that.

van Veen changed the game, Foley once again had a good game and early saves from Dave Cornell were important. Crooks should have not been risked after the clash of heads.

Ref and lino's poor AGAIN!

How sweet was that - that kind of thing hardly ever happens to us! Even sweeter that it was against that mouthy tw*t Cooper who showed what kind of a man he is when he dashed off down the tunnel as soon as Williams’ shot hit the back of the net!

Damn that felt good.  Grin

A poor first half and, although I'd have to see it again to be sure, from the angle I was sitting their goal looked a mile offside. Much better second half performance, turned around by the introduction of Van Veen.

Loved the celebrations after the second goal; I think we needed that to help close the rift that's appeared between the fans and players of late.

A word on Forest Green - I've had a bit of a soft spot for them after visiting there in the cup a few years ago and was pleased to see them get into the league, but after that negative, time wasting and cheating performance they've gone right down in my estimations. I'd be embarrassed to support a team that conducts itself like that; the win was all the sweeter for coming that late into the stoppage time that was caused by their relentless gamesmanship.

Lastly, a word for JJ - as he left the pitch it was lovely to see him make a beeline for the little lad in the wheelchair that led the team out today. Top man.

That was so sweet after his touch line antics and the way he always gets his teams to waste time .
Hilarious .
It was also retribution that their defender who started that fracas lost them the game by losing the ball to Van Veen .
Happy days

what a relief!

Terrible first half performance. Direct approach second half paid dividends.

Pity we didn't start playing till an hour was gone, but felt the result deserved. FGR an annoying bunch of ***** - even the subs were involved in the disruption tactics.
Their goal looked to be one of the worst offside decisions I have seen (and that's a few) unless I missed something.
Van Veen looks like the only one we have who can change a game. Foley is a real 100% man, and thought Pierre awesome today - nearest thing we have to an inspirational leader. Let's hope this leads somewhere, but content to bask in contentment for a few days at least.

I sit inline but I didn't see when the ball was played, the bloke next to me said it was definitely on side. More important so did Curle in post match interview.

Just watched it on Sky - and while angle not 100% conclusive - looks offside by a country mile.

All in all a massively important win and the good thing is that there are still a lot of areas that we can improve going forward. I'm not convinced by the wing backs - waters gives us a big threat going forward but doesn't really have any defensive awareness (understandably - maybe McWilliams is a better bet for mk) while Buchs  on the other provides the opposite although he got badly caught out defensively a couple of times. I thought the midfield as a whole were a bit off the pace and too deep for the first half and bits of the second and Williams/Hoskins were living off scraps. I think curle's substitutions were good, especially van veen who changed the game.

Very good second half. The best for a very long time. It was also nice to see the assistant managers actually getting involved and barking orders. A nice little team we have on the sideline gives me confidence for the rest of the season.

Me too, I was waiting confidently for the flag. The Sky highlights don’t exactly show it but he would put Bolt to shame with his speed if he managed to sprint from an onside position.

Reid certainly looked off side from Row M 155 but any decision not helped by the Lino being somewhat behind the play!
The applause and reaction to the equaliser was magnificent , more. like we had won the League. A lot of strange comments on our first half performamance - the conditions made FGR look a useful side and certainly put us on the back foot. Fortunately for us most of their football was played sufficiently far enough away from our goal. They lacked a cutting edge on the flanks. Their midfield (Grubb in partic) played neat interpassing again not too penetrative type of play. This is why we probably got to half time only one down. Thought Cornell played his part with one good save and 2/3 routine ones! Turnbull and Pierre did ok as did Facey  and Buchs. Not so sure on Waters who had a good game on Tuesday night but did his job ok. As for the great SH certainly annoyed their defence and was as far as I can remember the only player to carry any real threat to them until the emergence of the great vV ! I found Williams performance a little disappointing until the 96th minute where he was in the right place at the right time enabling most of us to forgive and forget the previous 90 odd minutes.  To me the game turned when Reid was substituted as certainly  first half he was the best fwd on the field. After that FGR's attack was a nuisance rather than a direct threat and most of them came to nothing. vV certainly saved us today and his last minute challenge and excellent lay off to Williams was the stuff of dreams as was the celebrations off and on the pitch when the ball went in. If ever a moment was a season defining moment it was that goal. For once the players, management and crowd were of one and those bonds will live on and hard to break or even forget. No wonder KC was hugging most players as they left the pitch! Good day at the office today.
