Reid was well onside.

Having seen all the replays Reid looked off side by at least a yard.

I'm not going to be negative on anyway at all as it was a fantastic result and we looked fantastic second half. But WTF was Cornell doing for their goal??? Utter howler and seems to have been swept under the carpet by most. Didn't cost us today,  but it's the sort of thing I'm talking about we have seen from him over previous seasons that has/will cost points.

Anyway top win and great 3 points, pleaded KC niw gas a full week on the training ground before next Saturday

You are going by the replays - I dpnt think Cornell had much of chance other than bring him down. Made two good saves first half too which you even fail to mention. Cornell didnt cost us today at all; when will your prejudice come to rterms your football brain? Never I suppose.

It was the way he came flying out nevers, your right absolutely no chance if getting anywhere near anything other than brining him down.

You miss my point entirely (as per normal) yes it didn't cost anything today but that sort of rashness is exactly what I've been talking about.

Anyway as I've said no negative vibes today, just a point I wanted to make.

On to Franchise next week for 3 more points.

Haven't seen a replay. I sit in West Stand 138 and I thought he was AT LEAST a yard off. Linesman IMO didn't appear to be in very good position.

Respect that you want to move on from the topic.

But, given his over-all performance, if he also stopped that chance (by whatever would have been the best option and reactive ability), would he not be playing for England?

Which replay shows the offside because the Sky one doesn’t ?

Quest gave an indication that he was offside (as did the Chron); sat in row K155 seat so was virtually in line with Reid before  he received the ball. The point is the lines man was caught out of position. All irrelevant now but had the Lino been up with play there may well been a flag.  Unless you were level with the player all opinions are subjective

I'm not going over old ground and like I've said Cornell has been 100% better this year and deserves his place in the team, also one mistake should not dampen what has been a good start, it's just that today reminded me again of days gone by and on another day may have cost us.

A very wise old relative of mine who had a significantly better football brain than me once said to me, its no good having a keeper that will make 4 or 5 world class saves throughout a game then in the last minute makes a howler and you end up losing the game 1-0. Didn't cost us today but may do going forward at some point.

Anyway it does not detract from an excellent 2nd half display and 3 points and onto next week.

Cornell dropping another bollokc was noted by Curle, who mentioned it post match without being prompted. He came rushing out and got nowhere near the ball about five minutes before the goal too, but narrowly escaped that one.

I’m sure Curle realises we need a keeper and will bring one in ASAP.

Great win which was fully deserved. We found it difficult in the first, in no small part down to the wind being against us, however I felt we could have coped with the conditions better than we did and we allowed the game to become very scrappy.

In the second we were excellent and made much more out of the wind being in our favour than FGR had done and ultimately could have scored more than the two we eventually did.

Excellent work by VV for the winner and great for Williams to open his account. I reckon the two of them starting together could soon become a regular occurrence. Good games for Foley and Turnbull but my MOM was Pierre, closely followed by VV who is a class above this league.

FGR's time-wasting tactics were pretty despicable but in the end they got what they deserved, which was nothing.

The ref/lino's were again terrible. In the first Buchanan received a forearm to the face while jumping for the ball, which sent him to ground. I don't think this was deliberate, but IMO it was a foul nonetheless which wasn't given despite the ref being on the spot. On the other hand the ref gave several soft fouls against us within minutes either side of the incident. Also in the first one of their players deliberately body-checked Waters just inside the box and I have seen penalties given for much less all too often. Couldn't see what Crooks was booked for - the defenders challenge on Crooks seemed to verge on the reckless more than anything but perhaps seeing a replay I'd feel differently. Can anyone confirm if their players put VV in a headlock during the touchline fracas? Because it looked that way from where I was sitting!

Anyway, the late goal and much needed three points feels like a turning point. Still much work to be done but we are definitely on the right track.

I just wondered what tv coverage showed it because I have only seen Sky and it’s inconclusive .
I have defended Cornell but he didn’t deal with it too well . Should have gone through the ball and not stopped . Or stayed in his area .

Would it be better to have a keeper who didn't make the world class saves and didn't make the clanger too?
By the logic you'd lose the game 4 or 5-0 instead of 1-0.

Cornell made a bad decision. If he comes he has to know he’s going to get the ball otherwise stay put and make him beat you. He was nowhere near and for me you are right to point it out

Does anyone remember the uproar from some when Sheffield United fans invaded our pitch after a goal? Amazingly I've not seen any negative mentions of yesterday's invasion  Grin Grin

To be fair to Cornell, he probably wasn't expecting to have to face a shot about 4 seconds after we just had a free kick. What on earth was that about? "Oh I know, I just belt it anywhere and see what happens"
