It seems the AR got it right.
People need to remember these are not top class referees or assistants, they are the bottom of the football league trying to work their way up. Just like the players, some will make the grade and some will not.

Regardless of whether it was offsite, another Cornell mistake cost us a goal. Thankfully it didn't cost us any points...

As always, there was only one person in the best position to make the decision, he did and was correct.

The referee gave the goal as there was no flag! The linesman was caught out by being not up with play. Understandably given the convoluted transition of the ball. Several players appealed for offside of which Facey was one! Had we lost by that Reid goal would KC and others been so ‘magnanimous’?

Which one was inconsistent, the AR got this one right didn't he?

In general not necessarily in this game.

With due respect, Facey can't know if he played Reid onside or not but only suspect this, unless he has two sets of eyes of course.

Precisely!

Why not?
If Facey was the last defender looking across the line (as I suspect he was), he would have known.

Strange that people dont believe Facey, when he was the last man. But, they believe themselves, when, more than likely they were watching the ball, not Facey or Reid.

The AR looked up with play to me on the video?
Players always appeal for offside, or any other decision, in the hope that it will influence the officials.
Didn't you know that ALL players are cheats?

'one of Forest Green's biggest rivals'...Just how many have they got?  Grin

Guessing a Cheltenham Town fan...if not, Shortwood Utd!  Wink

As has been said Gloucester City. Traditionally FGR's main rivals (ours has and always will be Cheltenham). Although now they're trying to move from Nailsworth to the edge of Gloucester, they're equally hated by every Gloucestershire club.

Due to the path of the ball there was no line as such (at the time of the pass). Ideologicaly you maybe right; the poor clearance caused the problem. From where I sat many shouted off side instantly the opposition pass was made. As it is all irrelevant now but would Facey have admitted his involvement publically if Reid’s goal was the winner!

The linesman was not in a position to raise a flag at time of oppo pass. If he was those of us in line with the incident would not feel so inclined to disagree. Bit of a sweeping statement to suggest all players are cheats - no doubt some are and are tainted with that reputation. If I was a prof footballer I would not appreciate your comment!

Come in Frank !!

I can't quite believe the amount of discussion over something that turned out to be an irrelevance. Then again having posted on here for many years I suppose I should.

It is not an irrelevance if it reveals a weakness in Facey and Cornell, lets hope their weakness in such a situation is addressed going forwards.

To us, the punters it is.

The three points are won, we have them. It is now irrelevant.

To Curle, the manager, let him analyse it till a time he deems fit.

And...we won at home for the first time since January in a competitive match. Some of you need to allow yourselves a moment of joy every so often.

It was a long pass forward. Could Facey look along the line while simultaneously looking up the pitch at the exact moment the pass over the top is made? It's guesswork, Facey doesn't 'know' if he was offside or not.

Facey also may not have been the last defender looking across the line as this could well have been Turnbull who is in fact the closest to Reid as the ball comes over and who is also clearly appealing for offside.

According to the video, the AR looked as if he was in line with the second last defender.  The same video that can't tell if the player was or wasn't offside.
It's a sweeping statement but true.
