I'm a supporter of KT so thanks in advance for fielding this question. With the increased exposure of the youth team due to their success so far this season, and greater fan interest because of this, would you consider staging a youth team match at the PTS academy before a first team game? Those with match day tickets could arrive early to watch this game if they wish. It would give supporters an opportunity to see the players first hand and it would also increase matchday revenue through sales of food and drinks.

Reasonable idea.

Good idea about a youth team game. Be good to see how they perform in front of a bigger crowd.

I see that Pollock lad scored again yesterday...

Perhaps the first round of the FA Youth Cup as we've been drawn at home...

As for the podcast, I highly recommend it. Really good listen an not as PC as the official Radio Northampton one!  Grin

Oh, and a question from me to the chairman would be to ask if it was KC decision to get rid of Melville and if KC is looking at bringing in someone else to fill that role or is he happy with his own recruiting contacts to abaly assist him.

UTC!

Decent idea Mathius. My only concern now winter is on its way is, what state would the pitch be in after it?

The problem with the youth team game would be the cost of policing and other staff.  Would those extra costs be out weighed by extra revenue, probably not.

That's a fair point. Would make it easier if the 1st team wasn't training on it;especially when we're paying for Moulton.

KT will have an idea if it's financially viable or not. Hopefully it is.

I would not at all be surprised if it was forbidden under FL rules to have more than one game played on a pitch on a matchday. There's some daft thing about how long floodlights must stay on for after a game so wouldn't be surprised one little bit

As the youth team would kick off, prior to the match game, then they would not require the floodlights?

How about a penalty competition from all of the youth team participating using one of the mobile goal posts. A rolling format, you miss you're out. The winners get a point and the ball signed by the first team and the most points at the end of the season get a cup and cash prize. You could include the youth goalkeeper if the penalties are all taken against the goalkeeping coach.

We get to see the youth team.
Minimal damage to the pitch.
Minimal cost/outlay.
Good practice on penalties.
Goalkeeping coach earning their corn  Grin

We could also get the dragon and kit man to run after the loose balls and the commentator to test his mike is fully working during it.

Maybe kick off at 12 for youth game. This would mean pitch clear by 2pm for first team warm-up and other pre-match activities. I do think there would be commercial benefits to having 2 games on matchday besides increased food and drink sales. I'm sure KT will see the potential for this even if it's not feasible in practice.

Another question, GeneralCobb. Any chance we will have an U23s team next season?

YThe floodlight rule is just an example of the daft sort of rules there are governing football matches.

Fair point, Marquis. It will be interesting to hear what KT thinks. He might like the idea but explain why it's not feasible. Hopefully, that's not the case.

I'm almost keeping this thread going single-handedly!

Q: KT, have you chosen from your candidates for the new academy head? If so, when will this be announced?
