Cornell made one great save early late 1st half  tipping a pile drive volley over bar from Rose.

Well played boys.
Macc were the most non-league league side I've seen in a very long time.

Credit where it's due, he's starting to keep some clean sheets. I'm always open to changing my mind if the evidence points a certain way.

It's a shame you want to point score after a 5-0 win though. For the self-appointed moral compass of the messageboard you should be ashamed Grin

Interesting listening to Martin Smith on Radio Nrthampton who said the biggest difference he saw in the Cobblers performance was how when loosing possesion they got 9 behind the ball quickly instead of a greater lethagy under DA defensively.

DA was right though! We were about to give someone a tonking. Pity for him it came after he got sacked...

Nothing against the guy but that whole "no manager will get anything out of them" bullbizz shows how schoolboy he was. Curled is a breath of fresh air by comparison. Instant results and so much more assured and coherent in his interviews

Are the goals up anywhere? They seem to be missing off the Sky League 2 site.

You can see the difference in professionalism can’t you ?
DA was well liked and a heart in his sleeve type of man , but you need to have guile and an ability to handle awkward characters as well .
I criticised Curle when he was appointed but he does seem to have brought new standards to the club and discipline to the players performances .

OMG

Powell actually barged someone off the ball for his goal! What is Curlio feeding him?

Quality finishing from Crooks. Weird, maybe it's just his body style but he seems to move at half speed, even his finishes seem to hit the net in slow mo

That's exactly what I want to do. Surely all the idiots who suggested we wouldn't create anything without Hoskins can see what a difference playing a footballer in his place can do?

With Facey and Morias to return, I'm hoping this season might bring some enjoyment.

That’s a load of bollocks - point scoring that old chest nut. Your praise has an underlying tone of faint praise for Cornell. Lord help him if he makes a mistake. My comment is not point scoring at all just informing you that Cornell made a great save. You simply can’t let go of your prejudices against Cornell.

Now that’s a strange comment on Hoskins; most of us were aware of Hoskins limitations. Their left back was torn apart by Waters on speed alone. All said and done  Hoskins and Waters are similar players. I don’t call fellow supporters idiots either!

A great result.  Ok so Macc were poor but you can only beat what is put in front of you and we did that efficiently, clinically and professionally. Good performances throughout the team although Crooks fully deserves all the plaudits for a brilliant display first half.  Can't help thinking his goal celebrations need a bit of work but as long as ball hits net who cares.  His third goal was superb. Only downside - and it seems churlish to mention it - but JJ still looked distinctly off the pace. Not that he had a bad game by any means and certainly it mattered little as Crooks more than made up for it, but he seemed very distant from the game at times and certainly did not dominate and influence as we know he can. Get him back to how we know he can be and we can certainly kick on from here.  Well done all apart from the Highways people who seem to think it ok to shut down large parts of the motorway system of this country at night making for a much later arrival home than it should have been.

I thought Cornell's early season form was poor - but then so was everyones.

Based on the highlights I've seen recently he's made some blinding saves - especially reflex type saves. There was one spill v MK but he got away with it and then the chase from goal v Mansfield (?) but not sure what else he could do there. Obviously I don't see his all round game, distribution, crosses etc but based on his primary role: stopping shots - he's not done much wrong lately

Those 1st half goals were a damn sight clearer on vid recording than thru the murk and drizzle last night. Thought their floodlights were poor too!
