No manager will get anything from these players.  These Players are the problem.

Don't talk rubbish....nobody would ever say that.....would they?

Views on the red card? I didn't get the best view but for me looked like a free kick and nothing more.

KC spoke well on it. Says ref has justified his decision, being high and dangerous.

Looked a yellow at worst in real time.

Great spirit shown by the lads today to dig deep , be disciplined and get the win .
The referee ruined the game with his inconsistent decisions . Foley was stupid to go into a challenge like that when Breakspear is reffing . It may not have been a sending off but he’s the type of ref that will punish you .
Why on earth didn’t he send their man off for the handball??
The first 20 minutes we were terrible and didnt win a challenge or pass to one of our own players once .
But credit where credit is due , we buckled down and blocked everything .
There is backbone in the team now .
Crooks was excellent as was McWilliams and the centre halves .
Well done the ten men !

Was a bit high and a bit late, but certainly not a malicious challenge. It was just Foley being what he is - a wholehearted competitor. I don't think it was the ref's worst decision though.

I did find him very inconsistent. vV's yellow may have been deserved but like last week with Bridge, he was a player being fouled off the ball right in front of the linesman who bravely didn't flag for the clear foul. Yet he made sure vV got a booking for retaliation. Worse was JJ's booking for complaining about a foul when he won the ball extremely well and completely cleanly and the foul seemed to be given just because he went in hard, although as far as I coud see he didn't touch the Oldham player at all. Refs are very quick to bring out cards when a man goes down but then allow players to get away with all kinds of pushing and shoving right in front of their eyes without even giving fouls. Never ceases to amaze me.

5 yellows and a red in a game most refs wouldn't have booked anyone. Three points earned but what was going on for their goal? Bad miss from Crooks in a game he played quite well in. McWilliams was my personal MOTM having played well in two positions.

As an aside, when did we employ Yosser Hughes?

That ref was atrocious. Consistently awful decisions awarded.

Great battle from the team today and thought we looked the better side bar the first 10 mins. Even in the 2nd half we had the best chances.

I saw Breakspear chatting with Foley as he warmed up and shook his hand, then he sent him off! All a bit odd.

I know it's difficult in the world of football not to end up with hyperbole, and everyone has a short-term memory, but I can't actually think of a single worse refereeing performance than ours today.

Hard to disagree, a real piss boiler of a performance.

Why  do the EFL allow Brakespear on the football pitch when he has sent off more than FOUR times as many players than ANY other refereee!!!
Refereeing by the card only is pathetic and spoils a game of football!

................................................by the way BRILLIANT character today to EVERY Cobblers player and the management.

Brilliant battling performance against the 11 men of Oldham and Mr Breakspear who managed to deliver another atrocious refereeing display. Pete Walton on the radio defended him saying he only gave what he saw and didn’t think it was a terrible referee, although did question one or two decisions or rather non-decisions. Had we not won that game Breakspear would have been lynched.
But positively we’ve won 3 out of 4 now. Pity about last weeks performance and result at MK. The Crewe game will probs my be a better footballing display. Another win and maybe I’ll start mentioning the “P” word.

Sending off for challenges that are neither reckless or intentionally dangerous on a regular basis really does need looking at by the EFL. However to have a ref who has the balls to actually do something about the constant back chat that players feel is acceptable in football but not any other sport is a breath of fresh air. If more took this stance, especially with the amateur dramatics after a tackle would I feel improve the game.

Over the last two seasons, there is zero chance that we would have won this game today. We would have crumbled under the pressure without doubt. The character from every player was fantastic to see. Think that the crowd really drove the boys home for the last 15 minutes today too. Quite a fair bit of noise at Sixfields for a change. Well done all.

Turnbull is everything that Ash Taylor is not. An actual leader and supportive CB. It was so refreshing to hear him dishing out instructions when defending in the first half. That's the kind of player we've missed since the Wilder days. Remarkable that he has been left in the dark until Curles arrival. Pierre alongside him is a different kettle of fish to the man to the man in the first 10 league games. With these two playing as well together as they currently are, all of a sudden we are a different team.

The red although probably wrong was no surprise at all. Brakespear was always going to give a red today in those conditions and Foley gave him the opportunity to do so.

Oldham players gave him plenty of chat but he did nothing. Every time I have seen a game officiated by the bollock headed nob it has been all about him. Even his assistants warmed up on their own away from him. He needs reeling in!

Our old friend Charles Breakspear is in the middle for this one.

So far this season he has issued 49 yellows and 8 reds in just 16 games.

Has sent off Buchanan and O'Toole against Shrewsbury in April 2017. Matt Crooks against Walsall in December 2017 and Hildeberto Pereira against Gillingham in February 2018.

Likes his red card and doesn't like any lip, both Crooks & Berto were sent off for 'talking too much'! Could make the game even more interesting - in a bad way.

Don't say you weren't warned.

As Wadey mentions above, Pete Walton didn’t see much wrong in Breakspear’s performance - I just hope he was just sticking up for the old boys union as that was a shocker. The way he strutted off at the end to a chorus of boos you could tell he loves being the centre of controversy.

Evening all. Out with family all day but was checking in, especially last 15!

Another win and hopefully more confidence built. No reason why we can't go on a bit of a run now, hopefully get closer to the playoffs by the end on November...

VV over Holmes for me on talent alone.
Call me delusional!

Not delusional more practical! vV is a few years younger than Holmes for a start. With us Holmes might just be a bit player and an expensive one at that. From a realistic point of view vV is more likely to be more use to us than Holmes!
