Northampton Town's youth team will welcome King's Lynn Town to the PTS Academy Stadium in the first round of the FA Youth Cup on Tuesday evening (October 30th).

The Cobblers youngsters are unbeaten since March, and coach Jon Brady says he hopes there will be a big turn out to support the team.

"We'd love as many supporters to come along as possible," said Brady.

"The team has been playing really well in the last few months and it will be great for the boys to play at the PTS Academy Stadium in front of the supporters. It's a good opportunity for them and they are all looking forward to it.

"It would be great if all the players involved in our Academy right the way down could come along with their families as well. All our coaches have been working extremely hard and nights like Tuesday are a good reward for all their efforts."

The tie will kick off at 7.30pm and admission prices are £3 adults and £1 concessions.

Looking forward to this and seeing our future generation of talent in action. Be interesting to see how goal machine Scott Pollock fares on our hallowed turf .

Watched the quarter final of the Alliance Cup on Saturday against Peterborough U18s. The 2-0 victory was made to look more comfortable than it should have been. Peterborough have a decent U18s. Be prepared to be surprised by the strength in depth. It's easy to draw the conclusion that they only have 2 or 3 good players because of the way the team is publicised. This couldn't be further from the truth.

Looking forward to it!

Good luck to all the youth lads tonight .
It’s fantastic they have been given a chance to play at Sixfields under lights .
JB is doing a great job as everyone who knows anything about local football knew he would .
It was a great appointment by Trevor Gould and KT

An excellent display of mature football: they move the ball intelligently, hardly a panic pass or a lump it anywhere from the whole side. Well worth watching - 4-0.

Enjoyed that.....could have been double figures to be honest!

We've really got some fine young talent on our books.

Jay Williams looked so composed on the ball and is a future 1st team captain in the making.
Cam McWilliams is gonna be some player. Just coming back from injury but looks so strong and got real pace and that edge like his brother...
Morgan Roberts is a right pest and reminded me of Darren Harmon (just needs to bulk up a bit but a stint out on loan playing mens football will help his development no end)
Scott Pollock looked nice and tidy on the ball and can pick a pass
Jack Newell looks a fine leggy midfield prospect who was voted MOM
Jack Daldy had great movement and looks like a proper striker who will take his chances

All the others looked more than competent and we're well above the standard of the opposition.

Swindon at home in round 2 so hopefully that'll be at the PTS too.

Not OTT at all if you were there...

Just saying how I saw it & we should be excited about the youth coming through our system

Granted not all will make the step up with us but a good few of them will...

Very much enjoyed last night. I agree with Steve that the display was mature and intelligent. Our youth team generally look composed because they are able to control games. I thought Kings Lynn put up a good performance and moved the ball well in the few opportunities they had. Even against opposition at our level we have controlled many of the games I've seen this season.

Memyhead is quite right to point out several good performances as this squad has real strength in depth. There were some really good 1st years that either didn't get much game time, or in some cases, none at all. And yes, there could have been a lot more goals.

Looking forward to Swindon at home in the next round. There's also a semi-final in the Alliance Cup to come: draw yet to be made.

Is there any reason why Sean Whaler wasn’t involved - is he too old?

I think it was said on the radio last week that as soon as the youth team confirm their position in the top half of their table they will start to look at sending some of them out to non-league sides to see how they react to playing men's football.

But it's good to see a few promising prospects in the system, I just hope some of them can kick on and make it at first team level given such few opportunities arise

Thanks mate - I thought he’d only just turned 18.

I'd like to add that Harding looked a real handful when he came on. Loads of pace and caused them no end of problems.

Seam Whaler is no longer a youth team player.

Neither is Morgan Roberts. He signed a professional deal at the end of last season as did Whaler. Roberts played last night though.

Roberts is a year younger than Whaler. Even though he's signed a pro contract, age group wisr he's second year of the youth team.

Fair enough, that makes sense. I did notice Roberts is only 17 years old.

Michael Harding is a real handful. Defenders do not like defending against him. He's like a mini-Bayo.

It certainly looks like Jay Williams is highly rated - he was all set to be sent on as substitute on Saturday after the sending off but then we scored again and there was obviously a rethink.
