What the controversy after our first with the 4th official piping up?
What an imposing figure he cut!

Artell moaned to him that there was a foul in the build up to the goal - I was convinced that when the ref went over to him that somehow it would be chalked off but fair play to the ref, he stuck by his original decision.

Three pages so far on a match thread, just shows how people prefer to moan than praise. Well done on gaining three points on a game low in quality

The moaning brigade are all in hiding, hopefully they stay there a lot longer.

Very quiet on here!
Not our most stylish performance, especially second half, but a good tactical job done. Amazing to think we found wins so hard to come by in the last year or more, but now we get wins like this without getting out of second gear.

Shame he didn't do that at MK, but a fantastic finish from Powell today I thought.

I hope the injury to crooks isn't too bad, if he'd still been on the pitch in the second half when the game stretched I think he would have punished Crewe - at least he's got a fortnight to recover but his creativity will be missed at Lincoln. I wonder how far off morias and facey are - the next 2 games would be ideal to get them back fit again.

Very satisfying victory against a very poor Crewe side.

Artell was a big uncompromising centre back and he should be embarrassed to be bleating about a “foul” in the build up to the first goal - if that had been given against him either as player or manager he’d have gone ballistic. The only reason the 4th official got involved is that Artell and his assistant put pressure on him.

This is the first time I’ve commented on the ‘Cornell’ debate but after today I have no reservations with him as our number 1.  He read the game well, was assured thoroughout, rushed out to clear when necessary and held onto that amazing save 2nd half which many keepers would have either missed or spilled

After the whistle had gone he also put in a good sprint to steer Van Veen away from Artell and off towards the tunnel before he got himself into more trouble!

It's a refreshing change to have such a pragmatic manager after the naive idealism of recent incumbents.

The defenders have clearly been instructed to launch it into the channels at every opportunity. Not pretty and, by Curle's own admission not always effective, but it does result in simplicity and clarity which I think is what players at this level need. I'd certainly rather watch that than Crewe's painful attempts to play it out from the back which Curle managed to disrupt with ease.

The foundation is much more solid now which means that the league one quality provided by the likes of Van Veen and Crooks is much more telling.

Personally I'd be starting Powell on current form. Hoskins provides more defensive cover, which I think is why he keeps getting the nod, but Powell carries much more of a goal threat.

Great point. Let's suspend all critical debate until we lose a game. That'll lead to much more interesting match threads. Smiley

Another good 3 points today, against a poor Crewe side, who hardly ever threatened. The centre of the defence looks really strong at the moment, Pierre and Turnbull are forming a really good partnership and you can clearly see the confidence returning in the whole defence, with Odoffin a different player under Curle. Next saturday will be a good test of how far we have come under Curle, in just over a month, as the fans sang in the west, it's good to have our cobblers back , long may it continue, well done lads.

Are they a poor Crewe side or were they made to look poor? If we’re not careful we could end up diluting some well deserved credit. Let’s be honest this turn around is nothing short of sensational. It doesn’t matter who gets injured or dropped, we keep getting results and frankly I can’t believe it. To get us to the position we are in at this point in time and getting us this solid, where sides are barely creating a chance is a miracle? Or perhaps an exhibition in the art of management from a very capable and brilliant manager? On reflection I’m going with both.

This is division 2
Crewe tried to play passing football and constantly got caught in possession without a threat .
We lump it into space as quickly as possible and win with ease .
Pierre immense and Van Veen a real threat .
Not sure why Artell is squealing - there was no foul for the first goal and the best ref we have had all season

Not the best spectacle but we are in danger of looking like a decent side at this level. Could and maybe should have won more convincingly today.

If we can get to January in the top half and fix the still glaring lack of quality out wide, we may yet be able to salvage something from this season.
