£10k in the bank for winning last night, through to the knockout phase.

Group games continue tonight and next week, with the draw next weekend.

Although not unduly concerned but Fulham's approach to the game last night baffled me a little.  I thought the idea of having these Premier teams U21 in the competition was to help them develop as players and I have no real problem with that. However thought it interesting that whilst Curle was on the touchline bellowing out instructions, guidance and encouragement all evening, for very long periods the Fulham technical area was totally empty with no one doing the same for them. Although it was a nothing game for them as they were already out of the competition why was not someone from their staff doing the same as Curle.  I would have thought they should have treated the game as an important stepping stone for their lads regardless (and indeed at times they looked as if they needed some encouragement and/or technical guidance). I know coaching from the touchline is technically not allowed but it seems only reasonable that it should occur during this competition if the object is to improve players.  I cant see however how the lack of anything from the Fulham staff on the side could have helped development of their players out on the pitch. Still good to get through the group - who would have thought that after losing so miserably to Wycombe in the first game.

Quite right to observe the poor activity from the Fulham Management. However the changes they made after going two goals down worked. I think our pressing game unnerved them for the first 30 odd minutes?

Because the premise that the B teams being in the Chuckletrade enables them to bring on young players is a complete sham.

Sounds like the lads are proud to wear the shirt again and are putting their heart and sole into the games .
I feared this would not happen again this season but KC has got a spirit going and my hat goes off to him

Curle said afterwards that they were technically good players but were more interested in playing good football whereas we wanted to win!
Anyone notice no logos on Fulham's shirts? Seems bookies adverts not allowed on youth teams. What hypocrisy.

A question for those that went along last night, if you had the chance to pick any Fulham player on show last night to join our team in January who would it be and why?

None. I wasn't impressed by any of them to be honest.

I saw Sessegnon in the line up but didn't realise it was the full back version. Otherwise...

Why? It’s a question nothing else

One of the Fulham players, Luca De La Torre, who got replaced at half time, was called up yesterday for the USA squad to face England at Wembley the week after next. They also had Steven Sessegnon, Ryan's twin and Timmy Abraham, Aston Villa Tami's brother. I wonder if there is a Tommy Abraham in the family    Smiley

They did have one or two decent players. Their right winger or right midfield; a small and neat player looked useful. They had a centre back who looked useful. Sessegnon looked overweight and slow but clearly had some skill. Their replacement left back also looked useful. So yes there might be some worthwhile loanees in their team.

As for the game we were up 2-0 within the first 25mins and a rout looked on the cards.  As mentioned earlier once they had reorganised after trailing 2-0 they played quite well and in the second half more or less controlled the game. Their problem was in the forwards who were totally ineffective. What some experts on here ought to appreciate that we gave 4 youth team players game time and that does not include Dolphin who is 20yrs and possibly Ward who is 20/21yrs? As you all know we were short of an entire midfield but all the Williams boys played ok. The youth team players like Whaler etc looked promising but looked at times a bit light weight. Their team were not all youths and had some big blokes of 21'ish; their two centre backs were both 6ft with one of them a burly character at that. For an idea of rating the oppo they reminded me of Crewe. As has been suggested it was a professional performance with some decent defensive performances. Cornell played well with some magnificent saves and first class anticipation - should keep the shirt Wink . We wanted to win  and progress in the competition and Mr Curle kept them at it with his booming voice!"
1051 there plus Crooks in an oversize boot to protect his damaged ankle. Will be surprised if he is fit for Saturday. They brought about 35/40 Spectators and did not make a sound. One last thing how many of our youth team 'supporters' watched the game Roll Eyes
