News this morning that the owners of the Chron are going into Administration so the future of what is now a local Internet news source for us is very doubtful. Sorry for stalwarts Jeremy Casey and James Heneghan who do a sound job reporting on NTFC matches and in between games.

Bad news. They've been teetering for ages so it's not really a surprise. I presume all of their papers have followed the pattern the Chron did by going weekly and in the age of the internet, who wants week old news?!?

We always used to have the Chron delivered but stopped a couple of weeks after it went weekly because it was pointless.  I know lots of people who did the same, so that limits the revenue to online advertising and there's a lot of competition out there.

It doesn't stop it being a tragedy for the town if it folds (which it looks like it will) - it's important from a community point of view to know what the hell is going on in the town, especially with the shìte councils we have to contend with. How else will we find out what's happening? Radio Numpty? Not likely.

In fact, most of the good investigative work on the Cardozas etc has come from BBC Northampton, specifically Matt Precey.

Yes, but the difference is you could dip into the Chronic's website at any hour of the day or night and read the stories that interested you. With Radio Northampton you have limited slots where anything of interest is presented and the rest of the time you run the risk of switching on and hearing Bernie fecking Keith wittering away about his fecking dog.

How can anyone come on this site and praise the investigative work of the Chron, does no one remember the shambolic way they failed to unearth what Cardoza got up to.

Fed to the teeth with trying to fight my way through the advert links to read an article! A shame but  it surprised.

It's not like that with other local newspapers, they are all in a similar format, not sure why it's only like that for the Chron?

who was that guy with the funny name, Jefferson starship or something that worked for the chron? The only reference to the shenanigans at cardozas Sixfields was when cardoza threatened sue our loyal fans for unearthing his wrong doings, Starship nearly jizzed his pants with delight  😂,

The good folk left at the chron need to gather all the subscribers email adresses and advertisers to be able to give the town a regular diet of local news and sport.

The Johnston group have been bought out by the creditors..........I think!

Whatever the limitations we would miss the local coverage.

Rolled out the red carpet for Cardoza whenever he saw fit , let that fat Scumbag scab threaten concerned supporters with legal action and censored worried fans . They was sh!he scared of the bloke and they failed to report fairly and balanced views on the subject

I’d have to say that was mainly the opinion I’d formed. The way they handled the Steve Riches saga was the end. Don’t always agree with the bloke but watching them fill their pants and grovel finished me an all.

BBC Northampton have a website and Twitter. All the stories go on there. Wouldn't rely on the radio for a story to pop up.

All is not lost, the NeneQuirer, run by the old Herald and Post Editor is going from strength to strength.

www.nenequirer.com

Very much a flicker of light in a dying industry, written by Northampton residents and v much community based. The Chronicle has been swallowed up by a hedge fund.

Are accessing it by phone or tablet? I don't have any problems with adverts using my PC.

That's the main reason I don't bother.
